A five star story written in Anna Jacobs style strong main characters and the story flows well with on the edge of your seat moments drama, suspense and a little romance so you get a little bit of everything the narrator did a super job

Same formula
I have enjoyed many of the books by Anna Jacobs but they are becoming very formulaic - harsh overbearing men - heroic emancipated women - Christians who have lost their faith

Harsh unbelievable characters
Not up to usual narration , the voices by Patricia Gallimore were ear piercingly sharp and some too similar to identify in places and therefore the story , which skipped around a bit much , was confusing . I had to listen to the predictable end and was relieved when it finished. Sorry , I am a huge Anna Jacobs fan normally , but not this one .

A great story well told
A very compelling listen, did not want to leave it. Patricia Gallimore gives the characters life. A real good listen it paints a vivid picture of life after the first world war

Not all northerners shout
The narration was absolutely terrible. All the northerners were portrayed by shouting it was terrible. Two characters sounded like Prince Charles and the Queen.
There was also some disturbing tapping noises half way through which sounded like a dripping tap.
Very disappointed as I normally love Anna Jacobs stories.
