Publisher's Summary
Set sail for a world of pirates, magic, and high adventure...
Quinn Bennett may be dead, but he's not going to let a little thing like that stop him.
Moments before his execution, Quinn, a slave who's been caught stealing from his masters - the Pirate Lords - offers up a prayer to Baron Tombstone, begging the powerful voodoo spirit to watch over his daughter, Asherah. When Tombstone answers his prayer, Quinn learns that there are worse fates than death.
With his body transformed into a zombie vessel for the voodoo spirit to walk upon the earth, and his spirit trapped in the Locker - the mythical Realm of the Dead - Quinn must find a way back to the land of the living and discover a way to free Asherah from the bondage of the Pirate Lords and Baron Tombstone's diabolical plans to make the girl his eternal bride.

Fun
I'm sure some people would pick at this story for various reasons, but if you are looking for a fun magic exciting intrigue this is it. I absolutely loved this story. I intended to listen to a bit of it and then do my work and the next thing I knew it was 4 1/2 hours in and I had to see how it ended. The writing is fluid and the performance is excellent. I was amazed at the flexibility of the performer to do so many voices with no jerkiness and if he did all the voices wow the female voice at the end is great. It is just a fun story.

Fun for adults and bloodthirsty young folk
whispersync, pirates, supernatural, caribbean I thought to have this for a distraction for a visiting middleschooler, but it grabbed me and I loved it! It's gory enough for the boys, but way more fun! I agree with others who enjoy the comparison to the Jack Sparrow movies, but here we get to exercise imagination a whole lot more. The publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers, but that can't begin to prepare you for all the suspense and fun. Well worth reading and rereading! I got mine on sale via Book Gorilla and took the audio option. Daniel F Purcell did a fine job of narration without being over dramatic.
