Publisher's summary

Tom Swift and His Air Glider by Victor Appleton, volume 12 of the Tom Swift series, takes our hero to Siberia in search of a long lost platinum mine. In order to accomplish this, the young inventor invents an "air glider" that (don't try this at home) operates best in a hurricane. In this episode instead of his arch rival Andy Foger, the Czarists provide the intrigue as they attempt to capture Tom and his friends.

What made the experience of listening to Tom Swift and His Air Glider the most enjoyable?

I liked the narrator, he did a decent job of capturing Tom and the period.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sure Toms great, Ned Newton's a stand up guy. But Mary Nestor is my absolute favorite. She's bright, beautiful and steadfast.

Which character – as performed by John Michaels – was your favorite?

Hemdid justice to Tom. Not easy since his attitudes come from a different time and place.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Actually this wasn't one I felt compelled to listen all in one go. I have enjoyed pretty much all of the first Tom Swift series . This is not my favorite amoung them. It just misses some of the high notes and adventures of many of the other titles.

Any additional comments?

These are fun books with a nice group of characters. I think for the best enjoyment you should dtart at the beginning of the series as it gives you a great starting point of the times and characters . One thing to near in mind is not to overthink the books enjoy the stories and the times they reflect. Primarily a series aimed at young boys but very enjoyable none the less.
