A terrorist bomb explodes during a South Korean celebration of the anniversary of the election of its first president. Alarms are raised in Washington. No one is claiming responsibility. The first suspect is North Korea. Could it be making a power play against South Korea and unification? If so, how will the U.S. respond? Paul Hood, Director of the Op-Center, must answer these questions. The Op-Center, a largely autonomous new agency which takes on the government's toughest security problems, is only six months old, and has never been given a foreign crisis until now.

In this factual account written with General Carl Steiner (Ret.), a commander who held responsibility for all U.S. Special Operations forces across all service lines, we get special insight into a largely secretive community whose members do not talk about their work. We hear about it only afterwards: the Achille Lauro hijacking, the "takedown" of Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, the efforts to find Aidid in Somalia. These are men sent in to do the impossible - and often, they achieve it.

Publisher's summary
In Call of Duty, this race-to-the-finish thriller in the bestselling Tom Clancy's Op-Center series, an attempt to exfiltrate a Chinese scientist threatens to incite a full-fledged war between China and the United States.
When the launch of their powerful new hypersonic missile ends in destruction, the Chinese government needs someone to blame. Was it a failure of engineering, or sabotage? The chief engineer on the project, Dr. Yang Dàyóu, is targeted as the scapegoat and arrested—unable to help his family as they are hunted down by the military.
Op-Center’s Lt. Grace Lee is sent to China on a solo reconnaissance mission, but when she sees an opportunity to free the imprisoned scientist, she seizes it. With Lt. Lee on the run and the Chinese military at her heels, Director Chase Williams sends the rest of Op-Center to Mongolia as an extraction team. Meanwhile, Dr. Dàyóu’s son has aligned himself with a dangerous group of counterrevolutionaries hellbent on dismantling the Communist regime, putting his father’s life—and his own—in jeopardy. The Black Wasp team races to rescue their colleague and her high-risk companion without setting off an international incident that leaves China ready to release their greatest weapon yet.

Definitely a good yarn.
After having listened to the book, and it’s entirety, I have to agree with several of the other reviewer‘s, it was definitely not written by Clancy. However, we will never have that privilege again, so sit back and enjoy the ride. If you can’t stand the lack ofsplit second rah

Better than the last 2 in the series but still kind of bad. Extra pity star for not being as dreadful as the prior book. Get rid of the overly complicated king fu references. This is supposed to be a Clancy book not a Jacky Chan movie.

For a century, the Panama Canal has served as the path between the seas. Control of this vital waterway is the difference between free trade and chaos in world markets. So when Panamanian President Rafael Botero asks for a show of support against the socialist opposition, his old friend President Jack Ryan can’t turn down an invitation to visit the country, but what seems like an ordinary opportunity to preach the values of democracy quickly turns into a nightmare when a full-blown coup d’état erupts.

He recruited and ran agents, planned and participated in special operations, and operated deep undercover throughout the world. In Spycatcher he draws on this fascinating experience to breathe urgent, dynamic new life into the contemporary spy novel. Featuring deft and daring superspy Will Cochrane, Dunn paints a nerve-jangling, bracingly authentic picture of today’s secret world. It is a place where trust is precious and betrayal is cheap....

An invisible killer has returned. The last time it raged, upward of 40 million died - in a matter of months. Now it is back, released to prey on an unsuspecting, unprotected world. The first case appears on a flawless spring morning, initially diagnosed as a common cold - perhaps a mild flu. Then the deaths begin. Beck Casey, an expert on biological warfare, is called back to his former CIA post to unravel the twisted case... and to discover if a vaccine exists. But Casey's potential allies to save the future are the worst enemies from his past.
