"At long last, Williams opens up about one of the most successful partnerships in sports history." -- Golf Digest

"Explosive."-- Today's Golfer

"Steve Williams knew Tiger Woods like no other... now he reveals all." -- Daily Mail

Steve Williams, arguably the greatest caddie in golf history, teams up with renowned golf journalist Evin Priest to give his definitive account of his 12-year partnership with the legendary Tiger Woods, sharing personal, never-before-told moments of their friendship on and off the course.

When Tiger Woods went on an extraordinary majors run between 1999 and 2008, one man stood at his side: his caddie Steve Williams. Together Steve and Tiger dominated the PGA Tour and won an astonishing 13 major championships, their sights set on breaking Jack Nicklaus’s record 18 majors. Before they could overtake Nicklaus, however, their partnership ended abruptly, and a 12-year period without talking began. Years later, the two reconnected.

Steve, with PGA Tour journalist Evin Priest, reflects fondly on his years as Tiger’s caddie and their relentless pursuit of greatness. He revisits all their best moments, from Tiger’s iconic shot on the 16th hole at the 2005 Masters to the famed Tiger Slam of 2000 and 2001, to his against-the-odds victory on a broken leg at the 2008 US Open. Steve goes behind the scenes of their on-course success and shows their friendship off the course, like Tiger caddying for Steve on his wedding day and Tiger giving a heartfelt best man speech. Steve also shares fascinating, never-before-seen photos and ephemera.

Together We Roared offers an inside look at what it is like to ride alongside greatness and is a heartfelt ode to the friendship that produced one of the winningest duos in golf history.

I couldn’t stop listening., great book about a great duo. It seemed genuine and real.

The seeming honesty

Great book that pulls the curtain back on Tiger’s world and their incredible run.

A few mispronunciations in the book by the narrator.

Calcavechia
Olazabal
Medina

Great insights!!

I literally wonder if this was narrated by AI. So many butchered words, including Medeena for Medinah, many times, Mark “Calcavetchia”, Basturol or similar for Baltusrol, and others.

Fascinating inside look at Tiger’s heyday.

The book had great stories but the narrator mispronounced multiple courses and players names throughout the book. It’s crazy the author or Stevie wouldn’t do the narration or at least have someone check to make sure the guy knew how to say Medinah or multiple other well known golf courses.

So many mispronunciations

If you’re a 40’s-50’s year old golf fan, you’ll love it, I did.

My Generations Golf Stories We Wanted To Hear

Some good tidbits and context to the Major wins. And some insight into the relationship post-Scandal. (Narrator had some mispronunciations, but was adequate otherwise.)

Worth the Listen

Maybe check how to pronounce golf club names and player names before narrating a book like this. Every time he says “Medinah” I want to stop listening. It’s honestly ridiculous how many names he gets wrong. He clearly put in 0 effort and just wanted to get a quick pay check. This is the worst performance by a narrator I have ever heard.

Great book but narrator is bad

At first I thought “the same old tiger stories”. But getting some new insights and a really great perspective of the history of their relationship was honestly very cool. Definitely a great book. My biggest critique is that I wish they’d gotten a narrator who was familiar with the golf world. His multiple mispronunciations throughout the book would take me out of the story sometimes. Maybe not a big deal to some, but for a golf sicko like myself it was a little annoying at times. Overall it was worth the listen.

Really cool perspective.

I loved getting. Blinks into Stevie’s side of the relationship. I was very disappointed in the regard of the book though. He mispronounced a ton of words related to golf both in player names and golf terms, that led me to believe the reader had no background in the sport. He also mispronounced so many New Zealand and Māori words, it became very distracting and a running joke while I was listening to it as I had to comment on it all the time.

Loved the behind the scenes look

The most prolific athlete in the game for over 20 years and an equal Caddy along the way. The only thing that ruins this story is the narrator not being a golfer or even remotely, seemingly to have done the research to be able to pronounce clubs names properly and some of the more key parts of the game with the appropriate nuance. The only place this book suffers is it just could’ve had somebody more in tune with the game.

Great story, terrible narrator
