Publisher's Summary

They're not so big in size, but their screams could burst eardrums and their habits can really drive you nuts. There is no need to dress these little monstrosities up in a devil's costume. That's right; we are here to discuss possibly the most talked about stage of child development that's right up there with the adolescent stage: the toddler stage. Cue the music for the Terrible Twos!

This book aims to serve as your one-stop-shop for advice and methods of dealing with some of the most pressing developmental and behavioral issues of this very important phase of your child's life.

The contents of this book include the following:

  • Information about all the physical changes your toddler is enduring.
  • Discussion about the many neurological developments that are occurring in your toddler's brain.
  • Learning how to think like a toddler so that you can interpret and understand the world like they do.
  • Tips, tricks, and hacks to getting through sleep training and potty training.
  • 7 techniques for effective toddler discipline.and much more....

This book is all about changing our mindsets not to necessarily think like our toddler(s), but to get on a level where you can not only assist them in proper healthy development but also truly get along with your child on a basis that not many parents ever get to. It is time to accept that your precious baby is no longer helpless. It is time to embrace your child's developments with other actions other than screaming back at them or becoming frustrated. I can tell you this book will not solve all your issues, for there will still be days you want to give up and leave your small child to defend for themselves. But this book will help you survive the "Terrible Twos", as well as even learn to enjoy your child while they are still this age. Your baby is growing up, and there is no slowing down.

This book is common sense

This book is all over the place. It gives you a list of things to avoid and that’s about it. The information in this book is basic common sense.. I was looking for a book that explained in more detail specific methods with real life examples when interacting with toddlers.

I can’t make it through the first chapter. I feel like I’m being talked down to.

Useless!

If you are a clueless new parent with no internet and ZERO parenting instincts, then this is the book for you! no real tips for real life toddlers. The closest example to my own child referred to some kid hitting another with a stick. What to do? Take the stick away. literally, in the book. It is BAD BAD BAD! Sleep training starts you at infancy, isn't this for toddlers? Once it finally gets to sleep training it repeats being consistent but with no actual tips or ideas on getting your kid to stay in his bed. I'm beyond disappointed.

Not worth it

This audible version is all over the place. I couldn’t listen to it like I hoped. It would be nice to listen to the sections you need at the time you need. Also the book seems to jump topic often

Parenting 101

I was looking for a book that dug into the psyche of a toddler with the intent of gaining a better understanding of why my child behaved certain ways and why certain disciplines work better than others and so on. Unfortunately after getting half way through the second of 5 books I began to feel like this book was written for 16 year olds lacking life experience and decent human behavior.
While the overall moral of the book "be a good human to your kid" is a great message this was more of a parenting 101 guideline with gentle suggestions, which is not what I need at this time.
I would consider this book a good starting point for a brand new parent before their kid becomes a toddler.

good

I do marriage and family therapy, and this is a book I recommend to clients often. It is a great guide to understanding how relationships with your parents impact your own parenting. There are brief activities for reflection, which is perfect. This book can get tough to read, which makes sense as Dan Siegel is a brilliant researcher, but is worth it.

must listen to it ....

I really found this useful. I wish I had gotten it in print as I would have tabbed it. Also, the cartoons are difficult to read in the Kindle version. I do want to go back and show them to my son (they have chapter summaries to share with your kids). The red/green/blue zone idea was key to breaking through a barrier I was facing with my son. I plan to read their other books and I hope they are as good as this one is.

great lesson

This book gives incredible insight into parenting. As a mom I found myself at times second-guessing and wondering if I was doing the absolute best thing for my little one. I discovered the only way that I could find out is if I could learn a little bit more about how my toddler behaves and thinks. Dr. Klein is beyond insightful and her decades of experience with toddlers is evident in this book. This is such a great read, if this is the only book you find time to read you will be so grateful to have found it!

Valuable information

Amazing! Such good information and examples. Made a huge difference in my kids. Want to share with every mom! Also read whole brained child which was helpful showing how these applications positivity effect the brain.

No actual advice, waste of money

This book promises a lot and got some great reviews but there is no actual scenario based advice given. There's a lot of relatively obvious statements that you can read from most google searches, like toddlers are mini people and don't know how to handle emotions as we do... well duh, thats why I bought this book, so I can learn an actual strategy or technique.

I got half way through and have deleted it. Looking for something based on real world scenarios.
