Publisher's summary

The epic conclusion to the DFZ Changeling trilogy!

No Victor lasts forever.

Victor thought he won when he became the Hero. He thought he won when he took over the DFZ. He thought he’d made himself untouchable.

He’s wrong.

Lola isn’t the sad little monster she used to be. She has a plan, she has allies, she has more magic than she ever dreamed possible. Killing one blood mage should be easy with a fairy kingdom at her fingertips, but Victor didn't make himself a god by playing fair, and his bag of tricks is far from empty. Taking him down will take everything Lola and her friends can bring, but if there’s one thing Lola’s always been, it’s determined. No matter the cost, no matter what it takes, she will see this through.

To the bloody end.

A Great end to the series

I loved this one. The series started out a little slow, but picked up with the last one and this was a really good continuation and wrap up.

There was still some romantic tension in the book, but not so much that it distracted from the plot. The problem solving aspect of trying to deal with the protagonist was very entertaining, and kept me wanting to know what would happen next. This also sets up a few more characters that will continue to be around the DFZ in the future.

Cant wait to see what Aaron does next. Highly recommended.

Perfect ending to this story!

I love all of the DFZ stories, I hope there are more to come. These stories are told so well, they have beautiful detail, and characters you really care about.
The narrator is perfect too!

Rachel amazing endings shines through

I always find Rachel’s storytelling to be creative and thought provoking. Her endings are always unexpected but happy for all players on the board.

I look forward to the next DFZ installment if there is one.

a really good ending

I'm a long time listener of Rachel Aaron from her original nice dragon series up to part-time magic some of her other series she is one of my favorite authors if not my favorite author I was a little worried at the beginning of this series because it seemed like she was ignoring her otherwise excellent world building but by the end of the series I am pleasantly proven wrong and this was an excellent addition to her world and I hope she writes many more.

Not as good as the other 2 series in this universe

I really love this world Rachel has made, as for the characters they are really good too. Personally I didn't love Lola, but I think that's just cause she had a more child like mind then the other two female leads in the other two series. So personally it was hard to relate to her but I really loved the exploration of blood mages and magic. its why I will read every book/series in this setting, because I find the world building so fun and interesting. Overall the dfz changeling trilogy was fun, and Alice in wonderland esk. So gotta have a more open mind to accept all the wackyness.

Good, but not great.

Not sure if it was the narrator or the story wasn't as strong as Rachel's other dfz work. but it was okay.

I’m going to miss the DFZ

I got into the DFZ stories a few months ago, and listened to them all with perfect timing to reach this final book in time for its release.

I’ve come to love this world and the people in it. This was an epic conclusion to Lola’s story, and I hope that someday we may get an epic story with Julius, Opal, and Lola all together maybe?!?!?

I’d at least love another series in the DFZ this trilogy leaves us with. It was all such an amazing ride, and I’m looking forward to whatever else Rachel Aaron has in store for us!

Way to go

I loved the way you tied everything together. There is only one thing I would like to see. But I won’t spoil it for others.

Great finish and addition to the DFZ universe

Loved this book. It was fun with a lot of twists that I really enjoyed, and as much as anything I thought it did a great job of expanding on the DFZ lore and existing stories. It's a great addition to the Heartstrikers and Minimum Wage Magic stories in a way that feel both new and fresh as well as grounded in those stories histories. Lots of winks and nods to the events of the prior books but you can still pick up this series without having to read the other 8 DFZ books, which is a real achievement.
