He learnt young because he saw his father and others takin' advantage of by men who used their guns to get what they wanted. He knew from a young age that no one would take advantage of his family or friends. He also fell in love with Abby, the prettiest girl in town. He had two problems here. She was the girl his older brother loved also. The second problem was she didn't want someone who lived by the gun. She said she didn't want a knock on the door and be told her husband was shot dead.
