Story
She saved his life, but can she save him from himself? Hunter, Marquess of Aaron, has the town fooled. Outwardly he’s a gentleman of position, with good contacts, wealth, and charm. Inwardly, he’s a mess. His vice - drinking himself into a stupor most days - almost kills him when he steps in front of a hackney cab. His saviour, a most unlikely person, is an angel to gaze at, but with a tongue sharper than his sword cane. Cecilia Smith dislikes idleness and waste. Had she been born male, she would already be working for her father’s law firm.

That’s precisely where she finds happily self-sufficient scavenger Malcom North, lost heir to the Earl of Maxwell. Now that Verity’s made him front-page news, what will he make of her? Kidnapped as a child, with no memories of his well-heeled past, Malcom prefers the grimy spoils of the culverts to the gilded riches of society.

Publisher's Summary
A duke of many rules. A lady of independence.
Since her cheating husband created a scandal by dying beneath his whore, Darcy de Merle is determined to enjoy widowhood and refuses to mourn a man she grew to loathe. Setting the ton ablaze, Darcy holds a ball to relaunch herself into society on the anniversary of his death.
Cameron, the duke of Athelby, plays by the rules. Always. He’s lived through the terrible consequences of what revelry, carelessness, and lack of respect for one’s social position can have on a family. So when he sees Darcy de Merle skirting the boundaries of respectability, it is only right that he should remind her of the proper etiquette to which she should adhere.
Darcy refuses to allow another man to tell her what to do. When the duke of Athelby chastises her at every turn, reminding her of her social failures, well, there is only one thing to be done about it...seduce the duke and show him there is more to life than the proper conventions set by the ton.
A battle of wills ensues where all bets are off, numerous rules are broken, and love becomes the ultimate reward.

Really Enjoyable!
Darcy de Merle and Cameron, the Duke of Athelby, were friends long ago as children, but that all changed when they both grew older and Darcy married another man. Now widowed and abhorring the thought of marrying again, Darcy is determined to take a lover and Cameron, rigid and straight-laced as he is, seems like the perfect match. I really enjoyed this steamy romance. The role reversal with Darcy as the more experienced woman and Cameron as her inexperienced student was a nice change of pace and really refreshing. I loved to watch as Darcy slowly broke down each of Cameron's walls and made him realize she was the exact right woman for him. They were believable together, and I really enjoyed the story. The narration was perfect as usual with this duo, with the male and female narrator performing each chapter from Darcy or Cameron's point of view and also the male or female speaking parts. It's seamless and made the entire listen a pleasure. I requested an audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

A Great Listen
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. How else would you celebrate your year of morning be over then having a ball? Well that's what Lady Darcy thought also. And a grand time was had by everyone but Duke Athelby that is. And there's nothing Darcy likes more than poking the bear. A fun romp of two strong character with well written banter. The narrators really add to the story making it very enjoyable. Looking forward to book 2.

Best laid plans run amuck when love settles in.
As children they were good friends. His Grandmother is her Godmother . She was married to a cruel and unfaithful Earl but gratefully he died a year ago and as scandalous as it appears she is celebrating with a ball on the 1 year anniversary of his death. Never wanting to marry again but willing to become a mistress her very rule abiding Duke is putty in her hands. I liked the two narrators both male and female and I think it was much more pleasing than one person trying to speak feminine and masculine and young and old voices. I recommend this book. It does contain some explicit sex scenes.

Amazing Historical Romance!
This was my first Tamara Gill's book, and won't be the last! This is the first book in the Lords of London Series. Darcy and Cameron's story is beautifully written, romantic, and sexy (steamy). Duchess DeFoix and Duke DeFoix did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed my listening and totally recommend this audiobook. So enjoyable
What caught my eye first about this book was the "Narrated by:" field. How can I not listen to a story read by narrators calling themselves Duke and Duchess DeFoix? And boy, are they good! I liked Tamara's story, because it defied the usual romance novel premise. Too often have I encountered the male lead as the one who wants to remain single, but, you know, milk the cow without buying it. Here, it is Darcy who wants to remain free. It's an artfully narrated steamy book. I was very pleased with it and totally recommend it. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thanks, Your Grace!

Short Story Of Stiff Duke and A Woman Enjoying Her Freedom
Friends once in childhood Cameron and Darcy drifted away as adults. Cameron’s brother dies having a reckless life so Cameron became very regimented while Darcy, a free spirit married a man who cheated and took her freedom. Cameron is slow to admit he never found a wife, having missed a time with Darcy, while Darcy became a widow and determined not to marry. The two meet and the fireworks begin..and realization... The narrators are incredible...perfect emotion and storytelling that draws you in. Well worth the time and money. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review
