Publisher's Summary

It's time for one last mission...

Ten years have passed since the end of the Titan Conflict. Now, the Titanborn stand on their own. And even though the war might be over, tensions between them and Earth have never been higher.

Malcolm Graves has spent the last decade living on Titan, the last place he'd ever expected to retire. But he'd made a vow to his daughter: protect her son Alann until his dying breath.

But when an old rival on Earth makes a threat against Alann's claim as heir to the throne of Titan, it's time to dust off the old pulse pistol and silence him. One problem. After he sets off to return to Earth for one last time, he awakens from cryo to find a stowaway. Desperate to see the worlds beyond Titan after spending his young, privileged life sequestered there, Alann had snuck aboard.

Together, they'll have to survive the perils of Earth as enemies old and new gun for the future King of Titan. One wrong move, and it'll be war again. A war that, this time, humanity may not survive.

Join ex-collector Malcolm Graves on one last mission in the fifth and final installment of the Children of Titan Series. To protect his grandson, there is nothing he won't do.

what a ride!

Loved the end to this series - although I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish there was another book. Maybe an arc...? Great writing, and as always phenomenal narration by RC Bray.

going out with a bang or whimper?

well. thats a wrap. this series started off VERY strong...gritty, solar system spanning, its own version of the expanse TV show...really good.

and then book 2 started off in a completely different direction...and that was OK for about 3/4 of the book. surprised we didn't see much carry over from book 1. but the style of the author was such that he gives various perspectives of the same events, often times going back and covering the same set of events from a different character's view. that works really well when Vince Flynn wrote his mitch rapp series...and sadly after his passing, the mitch rapp series is merely "ok" or just decent. so I kind of started digging that style for this.

but then the end of book happened, taking a very likeable character in Kale Drayton...and spoilers here if you haven't read up to book 4..."became" Kale Trass once the "truth" (but was it really?) became known. and in the span of 5 mins suddenly transforms from timid likeable hero to calculating, kaniving, and ruthless killer strategic extraordinaire. and book 3 and most of book 4 he becomes more and more unhinged and dark.

and then all of sudden in book 4 at the very end he reverts back to a sudden good hearted person again and literally saves earth. and the kicker? book 5 never even reveals what Aria says to Kale to get him to see reason. she whispers something in his ear before she dies...and thats secret goes to their graves and the graves (no pun intended) of this book series.

so book 5. its done. and I'm so glad. book 4 really soured me in this series. books 2 & 3 and especially 4 took what was amazing in book 1 and really twisted the series and characters...it felt a lot like the prequels to star wars and the sequels to the original trilogy. Episode 1 & 2 were so awful that Episode 3 felt sort of amazing. until you realized it was just a polished tu rd too.

book 5 kind of has that feel. its definitely the best in the series since book 1. it brought back some of that grit (not coincidentally by making Malcom graves once again the main character...even teaming up with some old and also new face along the way). had book 1 and book 5 been what the rest of the series wasn't, then this could really be a masterpiece of sorts in the gritty vision of a future solar system. but by the end of book 5 even though it was redeemed somewhat from the awkward jaunts of book 2-4, I was ready to pull the trigger on the series for good. but you'll have to read or listen to find out if graves goes to his grave or not...afterall the start of book 5 starts with graves with a gun pointed at his head.

overall 4 stars for this book. Bray is brilliant as always. overall this series I struggle to give it a 3 star score. book 1 was a 5 star. book 2 was mostly a 4bstar until the end of it...settled on a 3.5 star. book 3 was a merely decent 3. and book 4 was where I reluctantly gave 2 stars being generous bc of Bray. book 5 was 4 stars. and overall this series starts off strong and ends better than the majority of the series...with a final score of 3 stars. not sure I'll listen to any more Bruno books.

Bravo

I wasn't expecting another installment to this series but I'm glad the writer pulled it off, I was great and the one liners kill me.

2nd only to Book 1 in the series

Best books since the first in the series. RC Bray is near perfect as always. Leaves room for more but if not it provides a good ending for the series.

What a Finish

What. a. finish. What a series. Well done sir. Loved how much the characters grow on you. Couldn't have "put it down" if I'd wanted to. I strongly recommend the whole series.

Hoo raa for the ending

Kinda sad that it ends the way it does, thought there would be something more along the lines of typical "saved the hero" kinda fanfare but then again, I suppose real life doesn't work that way. i've thoroughly enjoyed the whole series.

Awesome conclusion

This was an very satisfying and thrilling conclusion to an already awesome series. With the few curve balls that Bruno throws at you, you will be engrossed in this book and not want to stop listening. I loved every second of it.

Not how I thought it would end

I thought that there was going to be such a different ending to the story.
How could Rhett C Bruno do this?
