Publisher's summary

Christmas comes but once a year, but chaos never ends!

Happy Halloween, Merry Christmas, and joyful Lumpy Rug Day. We didn’t make that up. Lumpy Rug Day is celebrated every May 3, though “celebrated” might be too strong a word. It’s the American way to create a celebration for everything, then turn it into a chore, or worse–a nightmare.

‘Tis the Season to Feel Inadequate is a collection of humorous essays about holidays, special occasions, and other times our celebrations make us feel not-so-celebratory. It’s understanding for those who think Christmas form letters can be honest—or they can be interesting. And it’s empathy for anyone who’s ever gotten poison ivy on Naked Hiking Day, or eaten all their Halloween candy and had to hand out instant oatmeal packets to their trick-or-treaters.

As a syndicated humor columnist, Dorothy Rosby has been lampooning our celebrations in publications across the West and Midwest for more than 20 years. Join her in celebrating National Bicarbonate of Soda Day on December 30—in case Christmas gives you indigestion.

Humor at it’s finest.

Dorothy writes about things we also think or do but with so much humor. Her voice in this audiobook adds to it with how she expresses herself. I've read the book and find the audiobook to be even more entertaining. I find myself laughing out loud a lot. I won't look at a Christmas letter ever the same and I've never thought about the many differences in Mother's & Father's Day gifts. I'm looking forward to her next book. Dorothy, keep on making me laugh.

Even Funnier Aloud!

I laughed out loud when I first read Dorothy Rosby's hilarious book. To hear her read her essays aloud just adds another level of uproariouness to her delightful and self-deprecating humor. I laughed out-louder all the way through the audiobook.

Thumbs up! Erma Brombeck would have said!

The humor and the history comes together with Dorothy's perfect sense of delivery...no matter your favorite holiday there is so much to relate to in the human foibles we all make and Dorothy humbly has us laughing with her as she shares her feelings and idiosyncrasies!
