They find that by climbing to the top of a tree they are able to watch the comings and goings of the young fighter pilots. Then they find an injured flier and the war becomes a stark reality. As they grow up, love and rivalry enter their lives and, 20 years on, when the girls decide on a reunion, many surprises come to light.

excellent narrator . I hope to hear her voices in more books by Katie Flynn. I am areal fan of both author and narrator. They made the book come alive. The most memorable moments came at the end of the book.

Childish and predictable
Somehow I made it to the end, but the was story was weak and so predictable. It reminded me of stories contained in women's magazines of the 1950s. The idea was OK - 3 evacuees returning to their wartime "home" after 20 years. But there was little of interest in the lives of the main characters. Disappointing.
