The whimsical fantasy realm he has created, combined with its superb narration by AudioFile Earphones Award-winner Alison Larkin, gives off a nostalgic feeling - making it enjoyable for adults, too. The pacing, individual accents for each character, and Larkin’s intonation are absolutely marvelous!” (The Children's Book Review)

Critic Reviews

"Narrator Alison Larkin brings the imaginary world of Tickle Plenty to life with a voice as light and sweet as cotton candy. As Tickle and her friends go on a magical adventure down the Lemonade River to the Lollipop Garden, Larkin narrates at a slow pace with deliberate, precise diction that is clear and singsong as a bell. She portrays the characters of this fantasy world vividly, creating just the right voice for each, including a breathy, exuberant Tickle; a badly behaved magic wand with a Cockney accent; a grandfatherly British bear; a wise child giant with a Scottish accent; a delightfully buzzzzy bee; an excitable, fast-talking bird; and many others. This audiobook is perfect for young children who like gentle, imaginative stories." (AudioFile Magazine)

A delightful, imaginative tale for children!

I loved this audiobook. The story is original and delightful - in some ways Minkoff's writing is reminiscent of Lewis Caroll, in others of Roald Dahl. My daughter loved listening to it before going to sleep. The narrator is the same narrator who read her other favorite audiobook, Beck and the Great Berry Battle and we just love her voice. This audiobook is really special.

Delightful! A Rare Gem!

After listening to Alison Larkin's superb narration of Peter Pan and the Inconsiderate Waiter and Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass I responded to my Grandchildren's please for 'more' and searched for something else for them to listen to at bed time. I struck gold with this one. They loved listening to this and so did I! A simple old fashioned imaginative fantasy that will not give your children nightmares but will instead delight them as they fall into the world of a ten year old girl who goes on really great adventures. Talking birds, talking clouds, wizards and a talking toaster and well so much more! Brilliantly voiced too! Recommended for ages 6 - 10.
