Publisher's Summary

The final installment in Anna Jacobs' beloved Irish Sisters series.

Sometimes the worst has to happen....

Recently widowed, Hannah Firth is still young - young enough to dream of a new life. When her spiteful daughter-in-law uses her as an unpaid servant, Hannah tries to leave, but she is unaware of the depths that Patty's spite will lead her to.

Nathaniel King's life is ruined when his landlord's son lays waste to his market garden for a prank - and the resulting feud puts Nathaniel's livelihood at stake.

Hannah has only a few coins and dreams of a happier future to sustain her as she tramps the roads and evades pursuit. When she meets Nathaniel, the attraction between them cannot be denied, and they join forces. But their enemies have money and powerful allies on their side and will stop at nothing to get rid of them....

An enjoyable listen!

Whilst I enjoyed this book as usual, I think I might have Listened to a few too many from Anna and need a little break. I got a little bit frustrated at times with the storyline in certain places being much the same as previous books. Having said that it was still a lovely book. Anna Jacobs is a great author and Nicolette McKenzie is a great narrator. Escapism is much needed at the moment and Anna always provides this. Thank you Anna and Nicolette.

Good but left wondering

I enjoyed this story but as it was the book in the “Irish Sisters” series, I was disappointed that the Irish sisters were not even mentioned in it. I was expecting it to link up somehow but it didn’t. It was a good listen and like the other Anna Jacobs books, the characters were all written very well. I just hope the Irish Sisters series will be continued!
