Publisher's Summary

From the moment he sees handsome Liam McCullough showering naked behind a Tunisian bar, ESL teacher Aidan Greene wants to screw the sexy bodyguard. At first, though, a dead courier and beefy hired thugs get in the way. But Liam soon convinces him - with wiles and smiles and solid logic - to join him on a race across the desert for a rendezvous with a Tuareg tribe at a remote oasis. Then nothing can stop them from getting naked and getting it on.

Together they explore the passion Liam hid from as a closeted Navy SEAL, and the love Aidan's missed after his longterm boyfriend kicked him to the curb.

From the back of a motorcycle to a Turkish bath to a remote dune in the desert, these two Romeos find ways to bring each other to the heights of pleasure. So what if they're carrying the password to a million-dollar Swiss bank account and being chased by Libyan intelligence agents determined to stop them at all costs? Love and lust fuel their passion and not even three wrong turns in the desert will keep them from surviving this adventure alive - and together.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and male/male sexual practices.

Average at best

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Stan Jenson?

Yes! Sean Crisden, Jack LeFleur, Paul Morey or Charlie David. All excellent narrators. Even Jeff Gelder who I had once thought I could barely tolerate. After listening to the audio snippet they give you, I decided to look for another book. But then I came back because I truly was intrigued by the premise and thought I may get used to the narrator. I was wrong. It is not just that he doesn't have the voice for a hot romance novel, though he doesn't (his voices for the two different protagonists are laughable) it's the fact that he just sounds so old. So when the sex scenes come about, I was positively disturbed. Having an old man talk about lube, dicks and come are not my idea of a fun time. But to each their own.

Did Three Wrong Turns in the Desert inspire you to do anything?

Find something better to read.

Any additional comments?

The premise was good however the execution was sub-par. Unfortunately the writing is more akin to those who write fan-fiction online than a published author.

Maybe a different Narrator

would have made this a better experience. This guy doesn't have the voice to pull off young men. He has good timing and inflection, but his voice kept me from being able to really get into the story.

Worth adding to your collection.

I really enjoy Neil Plakcy's books and I was very pleased to be able to add Three Wrong Turns in the Desert to my collection. The story is good and so is the performance of the narrator. Highly recommended.

Decent story. Decent narration.

Worth the listen. Enjoyed the descriptions of the desert, cities, and people. Couldn't quite connect with the main characters, but found them interesting.

Funny, interesting and well read!

It's the best book I found in Audible Romance Package so far. I liked both the story ( interesting, but not too twisted and complicated) and the narrator. At the begging the voice seemed too old for thirty-something characters, but one forgets about it pretty soon , because the narration is so well acted: breathless and laughing and howling wherever the text requires it. I'm getting the next in series right now!

Enjoyed the plot!

Although M/M is not my main genre, I find that I do enjoy the Mahu series, so thought I would take a chance on this one. I enjoyed the plot and the action, including the story. But, Mahu is still my favorite! Great job.

It's okay, but

It's not a terrible story. Overseas teacher trying to make a new life gets caught up in international intrigue with a sexy undercover bodyguard/agent (?). The writing is a bit clichéd, but the story is just the right kind of casual cheese that you want from a HEA romance.

However, and this might just be a personal opinion, I think the narrator may be a miscast. There is nothing wrong with his narration except that he sounds like an elderly gentleman. It kinda felt like a grandpa was reading me a dirty story, which really put me off the whole romance. Sometimes he would really put some relish on a smex scenes that would just make me cringe and totally take me out of the story.

If you like the narration then you should enjoy the book, but if you listen to the sample and get grandpa vibes, you may want to pass.

If You're Looking For a Fun Read

If you could sum up Three Wrong Turns in the Desert in three words, what would they be?

Ripping Good Story

What was one of the most memorable moments of Three Wrong Turns in the Desert?

The whole adventure at the end in the "school" was great. Don't want to give it away, but there were some very dicey moments.

But you know what? From the very beginning, I connected with Aidan. I like him a lot and wanted him to be okay and happy.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really loved the scene near the end where Aidan's ex came to try to get him back. He was completely oblivious to the changes that Aidan had gone through. Great scene.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, two such moments, when Aidan and Liam realized it was love, not just lust or having a good time. I like a good action story and when you add love into the mix, I'm all in.

Any additional comments?

I like this book very much. It grabbed me from the very first chapter and never let go. N.P. is great with characters and when you connect with the characters, it makes everything else even better.

Wow, great listen !!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked this book because of the way the writer makes you invision the places. I really didn't like the narrator all that much. When I first started listening I did not like the book at first because of the narrator. So I turned it off and listened to something else that I had, I did go back to this one, and I loved it. To me what I imagine is the a man in the army or any branch of the military would have a nice deep and more powerful voice. Since I have never really met any military men, just seen them on TV, I may be mistaken.
This is a romance book, and that is why I like it. I got what I needed out of it.

Not very enjoyable

Probably written more for the male reader than the female. To each his own, I suppose.
