Publisher's summary

The world has collapsed, and there are no heroes any more. His name is Three, a travelling gun for hire in a dying world. He has no allegiances, no family, no ties.

Against his better judgment, he accepts the mantle of protector to a sick woman on the run, and her young son. Together they set out across the plains in search of a mythic oasis, attempting to survive the forces that pursue them, and the creatures of the dark.

In these dark times, a hero may yet arise.

Great book

This is a futuristic epic adventure book that from what I have read on line was the authors first book "just to get a book finished". That said, it was really good! There are a few things he did wrong, in that he did not give a good world building picture. It takes place on Earth in the very distant future where people can get enhancements to their mind or body and they are hooked up to through a chip to a matrix type computer. They also need to live in enclosed cities do to the "Weir" creatures that wonder the planet at night. These Weir creatures are altered humans whom have been captured by the Weirs and altered into kind of mindless animals but they do not eat anyone but only seem to kill or capture people to be altered into Weir. No idea of where, how or anything regarding the process except it scares everyone. I did not like what happened to the main character, Three, at the end of the book and that might make or break me on any second book unless it gets great reviews. I won't spoil it though.

Outstanding story telling!

Jay Posey can tell a story! I was riveted and entranced by the story. This is the first book I have read/listened to in this genre and it won me over! I can't wait to read more by Mr. Posey!

Fantastic!

I loved this book even though this is not my normal genre. The narration would have gotten 5 stars except his female voices usually sound like they are cringing to me. In every other respect his voice is excellent.

An adventure with sci-fi and fantasy!

Three
Legends of the Duskwalker, Book 1
By: Jay Posey
Narrated by: Luke Daniels
This book blends some wonderful things together to make a book that was excellent listening!. A book about a seeming post-apocalyptic world with techno access. It also has "Weir" that change shape and other more fantasy aspects to this sci-fi thriller. It has a lone survivor that is different from most others and he chooses to help a mom and her kid. They too end up being very different. Three is the guys name. He is a tough guy and helps her and the kid but she is not a damsel in total distress, she too has skills. It is a wild adventure and had plenty of action, creative characters, great plot, and I can't wait for book 2!

Predictable but accessible

Still, a nice ride and I will get the next book in the series. To be honest, I mostly bought this because of the narrator, Luke Daniels.
