Fantastic Book with Well Developed World/Characters

This adventure fantasy story was beautifully written with complex characters and diverse representation. It was exciting to see casual mentions of diversity that truly felt like it was just another part of the story rather than The Main Event. The author’s narration was great and lent some subtle context to characters and nations through tone and accent choices.

Thought Thief had a really fun world to explore, and the author was outstanding with the lore written into the story as actions and observations so we didn’t have to take breaks from the actions for long explanations about the world’s history or magic system. I enjoyed following the different characters’ perspectives on their journeys and seeing how their thoughts clashed and shifted as they interacted throughout; it was a delight to watch them develop and work through challenges and flaws while also seeing how they were perceived by their group. I grew to really love the characters, and I am looking forward to the following the them all into book two!
