3.5

The story was good and kept my attention. Very glad the author answered almost all the questions of this "mystery". However I was disappointed when the book took storm toward "women's fiction" with unnecessary descriptions of sex or titillation. This gave the book a "first novel" feel as if the author used sex as filler.
The reader was ok - but seemed noted by the story at times.

Good story but too long

Would you try another book from Kate Moretti and/or Anne Marie Damman?

I liked the story very much but felt like it dragged on and on. The narrator took some getting used to. Not very dynamic which may have lent itself to how long the book seemed.

Not a mystery or thriller

Nasal narrator. Annoying main character. Lots of navel gazing and woe is me. This is a "love story" I suppose, but not a good one.

Woman's husband goes missing. Her male best friend is there to pick up the pieces. Chapter after chapter of her comparing male friend to husband and discussing how friend is in love her (why? I will never know.)

Wow!

What an amazing book! The whole story was perfection. My first from this author, will not be my last. Narrator was very good as well.

Loved this story and the writing is edgy full of suspense. Tragedy, love and secrets!

Too predictable

A long and drawn out story with a very predictable ending. For me, it wasn't worth the the time that it took to get through the book. There was no real climax.

takes unexpected turns

the summary is quite lacking and gives no foreshadowing on even the mood of the book. so with that said, the book held my interest all the way through. there were missed opportunities for a little more edge and thrill. almost every prediction I had was incorrect - but in a good way. not en edge of your seat, can't put down, but still not bad overall.

Very interesting story

This was a very interesting absorbing story. It took me a few beats to get use to the narrator. There were several times throughout the book were it seemed like she was just reading the book. Just.. reading.. a.. book. Also, the pitch of her voice isn't the most pleasant to listen to. However after a bit I got use to it and the story is so interesting I put the pitch of her voice and the way she was reading aside and got into the story. I don't usually do that. If I don't like the narrator I kick the book to the curb and move on but the character (of the book) was from the suburbs of New Jersey and the book was written in the first person. She was relating events in her life... so I thought this could be how a wife, mother from the suburbs could sound telling folks about events in her life. She wouldn't sound like a professional book reader.

Anywho, the story is really interesting. I recommend it.

boring............

Would you try another book from Kate Moretti and/or Anne Marie Damman?

no

Has Thought I Knew You turned you off from other books in this genre?

yes

What three words best describe Anne Marie Damman’s performance?

could have been okay

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no

Any additional comments?

this poor unhappy woman was a complete turnoff.....self centered, whiny, and a complete me-firster. There's no reason to think this guy wouldn't leave.....why would he stay?
