Whew! Excellent Story!

From the opening details of British naval passages, and psychology of the characters, to the horror of treachery of men in power, this story, on Audible, bound itself to me today from sunrise to sunset.
My crotchety self was inspired by several models of submission to God's providence in each character confounded by heightened events. The story offered individual hope for complex characters in a way that was personal to each and made sense to me in today's world. I can be critical of Christian literature, especially in historic settings, but this novel blew me away. With apt use of language, the characters are empathetic and tender, wicked, misguided and cruel. The story is paced with integrated action and balanced with human psychology. Timeless themes target political injustice through faith and bravery, empowering both women and men. I found descriptions of the island, the ship, its location in the sea, gracious hospitality, and secret dungeons, the nuances of people's attitudes, and also great dialogue drove this story to all the right places.
Seeing what Sydney Grey is capable of here, I can't wait to see what this new author will produce in her lifetime! Although dealing with a woman's most frightening reality, the story offered real timeless redemption. Those Who Trespass, is just a truly great historical thriller and audiobook!

God's Mysterious Ways

I received a copy of this audiobook for review after purchasing the paperback for myself, and I am so glad that I did! It was my first time listening to an audiobook narrated by Nathan Chatelier and I sincerely hope he will narrate more of Sydney F. Grey's future novels. He has a remarkably pleasant voice to listen to that allows you to get fully immersed in the story as if you were personally there witnessing it unfold. His pace, his enunciation, and his character voices all help Sydney's well-written story come to life without detracting from it in any way.

And, WOW, this descriptive book has it all!
Strong faith that you see lived out in spite of dire circumstances.
Adventure both on the high seas and in regency England.
Mystery that begs to be solved as the characters journey through the story line.
True friendships, slow romance, layers of intrigue, underhanded villains.
A tapestry of how God's mysterious ways weave together for the good in spite of what men intended for evil.

And the ending - what a deeply satisfying ending. I loved it so much that I immediately went back and listened to the last 7 chapters again!

High praise for Sydney F. Grey's debut novel "Those Who Trespass"! It's easy to see why it is a Crown Awards finalist and I look forward to what she publishes next!

Emotional Story!

This is a new author to me but I enjoyed the story. The narrator did a wonderful job too. This book held my attention from the beginning to the end so it looks like I found another author.
I loved Captain John and all the characters. I felt like I got to really know them and not just on the surface but their very soul. This is an emotional story and it’s narrated with lots of emotion. Don’t miss this Historical Romance filled with mystery, faith and inspiration.
I received this audiobook from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Compelling historical romance!

Those Who Trespass by Sydney Grey is a wonderful story that begins with a unique setting for a Regency novel of a deserted island and a ship. I enjoyed it compared to novels where everyone is prim and proper and even up-tight. The mystery surrounding the MFC is compelling and definitely keeps you reading. The MMC is so kind and selfless, which also makes him swoony in my book.

I definitely want to read more by Sydney Grey!
