By the end of 1986, Red Sword—the KGB and military officers planning the assassination of Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev—had made significant progress. To finance their plot with the needed one hundred million dollars, they would smuggle one hundred tons of Afghan hashish into San Francisco, using a former dirty CIA agent and an ex-con tugboat captain who was the friend of a convicted Russian spy. Their foolproof plan had everything covered—smooth and experienced operators, ingenious vessel designs to hide the hashish, and well-hidden base in the tangled waterways.
Alerted by a Russian officer, the CIA—with President Ronald Reagan’s blessing—would do everything in its power to protect Gorbachev in his march towards democracy and the end to the Cold War. Its counterattack was Thorn. Yet the CIA’s choice of rookie undercover Special Agent Tony Davis for the most significant operation in its Clandestine Service history involved a huge risk.

Riveting. Tom Clancy and Spielberg rolled into one
This second installment in a series of four books is obviously written from the context of "Historical Fiction." Extremely well written and captivating. This is the first time I've listened to an Audiobook that was so intense that I was compelled to review it with a few chapters left to read. Well written sir! I can't wait to read the 3rd in this series. I highly recommend this. You'll be on the edge of your seat throughout-I know I was.

virtual voice is horrible!
sometimes bad books can be saved by good narrators and vice versa but this narration is ridiculous! nothing like listening to a monotone computer read your story. what a money grubbing joke!
