History, not for the faint of heart.

Interestingly weaves history with a great story plot, each character telling their story.
Life in 1865 must have been difficult, this book helps us understand the mentality and brutality of the war and times.

Very Dark-did not really care for it

The idea of this book is interesting especially with the roles of women deemed appropriate for this time in history. However, the main character develops into something very disturbing . I could not finish the book . Also there are scenes of violence against women that are offensive.
The best part of this book were the different narrators. They were excellent.
