Publisher's Summary

In a spontaneous effort to protect her family's bakery, a retired magician enters a local ballroom dance competition with a prize that just might save the holidays; if only it didn't involve partnering up with the brooding stranger who despised her alter-ego. Couple that with lost luggage, painful shoes, and a handsome, charming competitor, and who could blame her for being less than graceful on the dance floor?

But when Blaire's pride starts jeopardizing the competition, she must decide whether to keep hiding in the shadows or to reveal her secrets and use her skills to win. With more than just a prize on the line, will this solo act learn how to depend on others, or will she stay center stage and risk it all?

That, my friends, was a waste of time

So, you're looking for a "magical Christmas story". You expect some "magic", right? Some "feel good, Christmas is magical" story. What do you find? Other than the fact that the main character is a retired magician, not much magic at all. As a matter of fact, not much anything at all. She's an annoying brat "with a heart of gold", he's a cranky guy (more heart of gold). To be honest, he's more likeable than she is. And the narration didn't help the story much either. The narrator managed to make every character sound like a little girl. I managed to get to the end, because I always do, but I do not recommend this book unless you like "I hate you so much I'm going to kiss you" novels that meander around with not a lot to show for it.
