Publisher's summary

This program is read by the author.

The fiery U.S. Senator from Massachusetts and bestselling author offers a passionate, inspiring audiobook about why our middle class is under siege and how we can win the fight to save it.

Senator Elizabeth Warren has long been an outspoken champion of America’s middle class, and by the time the people of Massachusetts elected her in 2012, she had become one of the country’s leading progressive voices. Now, at a perilous moment for our nation, she has written an illuminating account of how we built the strongest middle class in history, a scathing indictment of those who have spent the past thirty-five years undermining working families, and a rousing call to action.

Warren grew up in Oklahoma, and she’s never forgotten how difficult it was for her mother and father to hold on at the ragged edge of the middle class. An educational system that offered opportunities for all made it possible for her to achieve her dream of going to college, becoming a teacher, and, later, attending law school. But now, for many, these kinds of opportunities are gone, and a government that once looked out for working families is instead captive to the rich and powerful. Seventy-five years ago, President Franklin Roosevelt and his New Deal ushered in an age of widespread prosperity; in the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan reversed course and sold the country on the disastrous fiction called trickle-down economics. Now, with the election of Donald Trump--a con artist who promised to drain the swamp of special interests and then surrounded himself with billionaires and lobbyists--the middle class is being pushed ever closer to collapse.

Written in the candid, high-spirited voice that is Warren’s trademark, This Fight Is Our Fight tells eye-opening stories about her battles in the Senate and vividly describes the experiences of hard-working Americans who have too often been given the short end of the stick. Elizabeth Warren has had enough of phony promises and a government that no longer serves its people--she won’t sit down, she won’t be silenced, and she will fight back.

We need to "Make America Great For the Middle Class Again"!

What about Elizabeth Warren’s performance did you like?

She was honest and clearly cared about her statements! She seems to almost be crying when she talked about Gina and Michael and Kai! She definitely put humanity the book (not that it didn't already have humanity in it)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

See above

Any additional comments?

This book had a few primary viewpoints:
First, there were the personal stories
Second, there was the history and current government and its workings and influences
Third, there was the opinion and conclusions drawn.
The third part was the only one that wasn't strictly factual. Fortunately for me, I also agreed with her on the opinion and conclusions.
The personal stories were heartbreaking. It was clear that Elizabeth Warren took them to heart and considered them important, not just to the country, but to her personally! She spilled into them the frustrations of hard workers who have done everything right, and yet, through no fault of their own, what started out as success turned into dire circumstances!
The history and current story of our government and some of the hidden and secretive aspects that no one wants to talk about was enlightening. I hadn't known any of the details about FDR and what he had done to bring the country back from the brink during the Great Depression. He clearly had the goal of "Making America Great Again" (at least financially) in REALITY as opposed to just as a campaign promise! And the total of fact of the lobbyists and special interests on our day to day government activities has been shown to be far from in favor of the American population!
As for opinions and conclusions, I think they're spot on, but I have already said that I am in favor of Elizabeth Warren! I believe in her. I think that this book is one that all should read, or at least, they should all read the parts about FDR and about the current workings of the government!
Great book!

one of the better books by a politician.

Books by politicians are like watching the infomercial channel. Igive it 4 stars because the standard is low; it's just all marketing. But the message in this book was persuasive and we'll delivered with much to think about later. My time was well spent. I recommend this book for that reason.

She has my vote....

I've read most of Senator Warren's books prior to this one, but her own reading makes ALL the difference. If you are lost in despair over the political climate in our country, listen to her; if you think you know exactly where you're going, listen to her. Elizabeth Warren is the only person who can restore the balance that we so desperately need.

This is our fight Middle Class!

Elizabeth Warren pumped me up!

I loved how she went back to the Depression of the 20's, and I hope we never experience that time again.

I've heard horrific stories during that bleak time of our history where ordinary people took extreme measures even boiling shoes to feed their families because there was nothing else to eat.
