Publisher's summary

In This Fallen Prey, the next installment of New York Times best-selling author Kelley Armstrong's thriller series, Casey Duncan is about to face her toughest job as police detective in Rockton yet.

When Casey first arrived at the off-the-grid town, an isolated community built as a haven for people running from their pasts, she had no idea what to expect, with no cell phones, no internet, no mail, and no way of getting in or out without the town council's approval. She certainly didn't expect to be the homicide detective on two separate cases or to begin a romantic relationship with her boss. But the very last thing she expected was for the council to drop a dangerous criminal into their midst without a plan to keep him imprisoned, and to keep others safe.

Of course Oliver Brady claims he's being set up. But the longer Brady stays in town, the more things start to go wrong. When evidence comes to light that someone inside Rockton might be working as his accomplice, helping him to escape, Casey races to figure out who exactly Brady is and what crimes he's truly responsible for committing.

In the next gripping audiobook in Kelley Armstrong's dynamic Casey Duncan series, life in Rockton is about to get even more dangerous.

Great series!

This is third book in the Casey Duncan/Rockton series. These books are all stand alone but because of developing relationships between Casey and her boss/live in boyfriend, I would suggest listening to this series in order.
Rockton is a town built in the Yukon where people go to leave their past behind. Most were not upstanding citizens however some run because of circumstances they did not create. When Rockton's town council has an opportunity to make a lot of money by taking in a serial killer they jump at the chance. Forget that Rockton doesn't have a facility to hold dangerous criminals you would think that's the story. Think again! That's just the beginning. While keeping the new person's crimes from the community the prisoner is able to recruit inside help to escape. Then the murders really begin.
Between a serial killer , wild animals and settlements of hostiles this book has a whole lot of who done its?
These books are very entertaining, the characters and story are believable.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I'm really sick of

update at chapter 33 I can't go on any longer with this shit***I've literally heard " it's all my fault.." atleast 20 times only in this book maybe the same amount in the first two. stooooooop that able is sooooo tired. these books are really great, the mystery is great, the characters and details are great but seriously it feels like every single twist of the story is accompanied by the main characters blaming themselves for everything that happens to everyone. please stop this stupid habit it ruins the actually very good story and it's unnecessary

Some people Should Not have a dog!

At this point would anyone blame me if I wanted to pushed Casey off the cliff?? Fault! Blame! I'm Sorry!! Responsible!! I'm going to poke my own eye out if the two main characters blame themselves for EVERYTHING one more time! But the worst of all is the poor dog!! Hold on to the stupid leash!

Ehh.

It was okay. Not the strongest but alright. I hope the next one is better. Maybe it's just hard to top the first two books. There were a few juicy parts. Yet I was more concerned with their dog training than the plot. decent character development for our main duo but the development of side characters was lacking. I wanted more. I'm done with the friend turns out to be the villain theme though. If I was her at this point I'd move into the forest with Eric and the dog and call it a damn day. Maybe Jacob has the right idea. She has shit luck at friendships lol

Ruined the series for me . . .

What disappointed you about This Fallen Prey?

After reading the first two books in the series, I was excited to see what would happen to the characters. Unfortunately, the characters fell flat. The dog had more character development than anyone - which isn't saying much. The generally smart and intuitive characters spent the vast majority of the book confused and chasing the dog. If there is a follow-up, I won't be reading it.

Any additional comments?

Not worth the time or credit.

Characters have become TSTL...

All the five star reviews is why bought this book and I am so disappointed.

This book really frustrated me. These characters just kept making one dumb move after another to the point where it felt like the author was throwing way too much stuff in this story to create more tension and drama---which I'm sorry, doesn't really work when the characters have to become blatantly stupid for the story to work!

Don't even get me started on how these people take their puppy out in the forest to "track" the escapee but forget to leash it! Most people aren't dumb enough to bring a barely trained and unleashed dog into a forest teaming with predators like grizzlies and cougars. Or what about the way Casey sees a body at the bottom of a 50 ft cliff and decides she just has to climb down (rather than going around and hiking down the way she had JUST POINTED OUT in the chapter before) to retrieve a body she has no way of actually retrieving? Just how did she expect to haul that body up the 50ft cliff? But whatever! Makes for an exciting story if you can ignore the fact that it's ridiculously stupid (i tried but couldn't).

Too many story lines

I do enjoy this series, but honestly too much going on to stick with the plot. unnecessary action leads to exhaustion while reading. No character development. in this book.

Noooo!!!!! I didn’t want it to end.

This series is the best series I have ever read/listened to. I seriously cannot get enough of Rockton. Casey, Dalton, Anders, and a few others are some of the best characters in a book that I have ever seen. I had book one in my library forever before deciding to give it a go. I was hooked and blew through it. I was so eager to begin the next book when it ended that I didn’t bother to review it. The Rockton series was my first experience with this author. Kelley Armstrong is a phenomenal writer who not only can tell a great story but also develop fun and interesting characters that you cannot help but love. I am so sorry that I blew through these books. This book was just released a couple of days ago so who knows how long until the fourth book comes out. I pray it’s not a year. I certainly don’t think I can wait a whole entire year. I have only listened to two books a second time. Both were by Stephen King, however I will definitely listen to these three Rockton books again and again. Each book is even better than the last.
I definitely 100% recommend these books . You WILL NOT be sorry.
