Publisher's Summary

The instant New York Times best seller and “inspiring and vulnerable” (Trevor Noah) memoir from Bobby Hall, the multiplatinum recording artist known as Logic and the number-one best-selling author of Supermarket.

This Bright Future is a raw and unfiltered journey into the life and mind of Bobby Hall, who emerged from the wreckage of a horrifically abusive childhood to become an era-defining artist of our tumultuous age.

A self-described orphan with parents, Bobby Hall began life as Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, the only child of an alcoholic, mentally ill mother on welfare and an absent, crack-addicted father. After enduring 17 years of abuse and neglect, Bobby ran away from home and - with nothing more than a discarded laptop and a ninth-grade education - he found his voice in the world of hip-hop and a new home in a place he never expected: the untamed and uncharted wilderness of the social media age.

In the message boards and livestreams of this brave new world, Bobby became Logic, transforming a childhood of violence, anger, and trauma into music that spread a resilient message of peace, love, and positivity. His songs would touch the lives of millions, taking him to dizzying heights of success, where the wounds of his childhood and the perils of Internet fame would nearly be his undoing.

A landmark achievement in an already remarkable career, This Bright Future “is just like the author - fearless, funny, and full of heart” (Ernest Cline, number-one New York Times best-selling author of Ready Player One) and looks back on Bobby’s extraordinary life with lacerating humor and fearless honesty. Heart-wrenching yet ultimately uplifting, this book completes the incredible true story and transformation of a human being who, against all odds, refused to be broken.

Wow

Robert Hall has always been a favorite of mine. His music has always been my escape away from the world. I’ve started listening to him when he just started and have read both his books. This book gave me such a visual ride of emotions. I’ve laughed, got mad or sad about how his life was. Jaw dropping moments to crying. Definitely would recommend listening to and reading. Thank you for such an incredible novel/documentary.

THIS IS WHY I LOVE THIS GUY

It takes a very special human being to not only make it out of the situation he was in, but also create the life he’s been able to create. From his music, we’ve always known that he’s come from welfare, an abusive household, and hard times but never on the scale that he talks about in this book. I’ve seen Logic live about 5-6 times and I always thought that he was killing it and living this perfect life. Little did I know that he was literally killing HIMSELF just to do that one extra show, meet that one extra fan, make that one extra song. It was mindblowing, I wish I could’ve walked up on stage, gave the man a hug, and reminded him that he belongs. In the end, he did it all and always will do everything he does for the fans, the Rattpack baby! That is why I love this guy.

Better than I could’ve imagined!

I’ve been one of the biggest logic fans from the jump (mixtape days), have watched every J.A.D. Vid on the come up, you have always inspired me to take leaps in my life man and for that I’m grateful. Being a fan for the longest, life happens to us as well and I feel blessed your music has always been there, now with a book! This book showed me just how genuine Bobby (Logic) is and has been. What a truly incredible story, thought I knew the “gist” but you did an awesome job painting the picture for us listeners/readers. Stay blessed man, Ratt Pack!👊

Unexpectedly fantastic

Purchasing this book as my free choice during the buy one get one deal, I didn’t know what to expect.
It’s heartbreaking and sometimes difficult to listen to. Not because of the language, but because of his story. It’s raw, sad but riveting and ultimately uplifting. A great book.

Didn’t expect this level of quality

Allot of the times I related.
I felt your anxiety and panic.
I saw you listening to music while mentally muting the words and adding your own.
I was that boy, who loved music and was able
To write about his life through it. I’ve made music and never did anything with it just a way to journal thoughts. I’ve been a fan of your work just never to the depth of knowing you as a person. I kept flashing back and forth through this book to when you got to halter Logic. When I was able go back to certain albums or music videos. The book was like a time machine, seeing what you truly felt inside but how you where having a hard time off stage at such a young age. What a world to be in, the internet is a beautifully eye opening platform of information that can be turned into hatred……sad to hear what you went through as a child and as a young man growing up. Im proud to have watched you over the years freestyling all
Over the world and dropping bars….it was co to see you grow and know truly understand that you are a real human being. Wish you and your family luck. This is one amazing book for
Any fan who watch you since the old days.

A great, in depth view into Logic’s life.

Since becoming a fan in early 2012 when I heard The Spotlight in a YouTube video I’ve continued to follow logic and his journey with music and as a person. I really enjoyed listening to this memoir, it is a great insight into Logic’s life before his career and during his journey. It was really emotional to hear parts of his story but made me even prouder to be a fan of his. I look forward to seeing what else you create and I’m so happy for you Bobby!

You need to purchase this.

As a victim of child abuse, from both parents. This resonated with me a lot. I just want to say thank you. Perhaps someday I will heal and get my music out too.
