Publisher's summary

Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls is a manifesto and call to arms for women of all sizes and ages. With smart and sassy eloquence, veteran blogger Jes M. Baker calls on women to be proud of their bodies, fight against fat shaming, and embrace a body-positive worldview to change public perceptions and help women maintain mental health. With the same straightforward tone that catapulted her to national attention when she wrote a public letter addressing the sexist comments of Abercrombie & Fitch's CEO, Jes shares personal experiences along with in-depth research in a way that is approachable, digestible, and empowering. Featuring notable guest authors, Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls is an invitation for all women to reject fat prejudice, learn to love their bodies, and join one of the most progressive and life-changing revolutions in the world.

HAPPILY my first body positivity book

I’ve read Jess Baker online a little, and a few other women who are changing the world for fat women like me. I’m finally gathering their books around me and can happily say this is the first one I’ve read and I thoroughly binged on it (pun intended) and loved how it tastes.

It’s hard to sum everything up since Jess B touched on so many things. Even when she hit on stuff I’m not 100% interested in, it went fast and easy because she is a great conversational writer. Not the best reader for an audiobook BUT yet I bet she’s a better speaker than reader if you get the chance, and I think any follow up books will get better from her in the narration aspect of them.

Good book, well read, but slightly badly edited

What did you love best about Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls?

Jes Baker goes through all the trials and topics about being a 'Fat Girl', but also brings in the perspective of other voices in the body positive movement.

Any additional comments?

My only criticism is in the editing of the audio. When she jumps between the "fat people do all the things" sections and back to the regular text, there is a lack of a clear pause that lets us know that we are switching between two sections.

Bless this human

Never wrote a review before and I am here to say listen to this book. From one fat girl to another, this book is a gift I wish I gave myself at 18 years old.

Amazing Empowering book: a must read

This book was just what I needed, and what I was looking for! This book helps all women of all sizes learn to live unapologetically and without toxic body comparisons. The messages are practical and truly helpful. Lots of sound mental health advice thrown in and lots of sound body positivity for people of all shapes. A must-read for all feminine folk.

Empowering, Inspiring, and On Time!

I have been a plus size girl my entire life. And in a lot of ways I allowed that to affect how I dealt with people, how I let others treat me, and even dictate what I felt I deserved. Who knew that at 40 I would read this text and begin the journey of truly loving myself and understanding that "fat" is nothing more than just an adjective! This book is a must read (or listen), for all girls who shame their bodies, no matter the size. Jes has a way of making you comfortable enough to invite her into your house, tell her to kick off her shoes, and offer her a drink. Very easy to follow and definitely engaging. You go girl!

For ALL PEOPLE not just fat girls

Ok my fabulous ladies!....I just finished listening to this book and it was freaking fantastic. Warning- lots of potential triggers, but it's all positive in the end. Warning lots of inappropriate language, but sometimes it's warranted because there aren't enough polite words to describe the junk that happens in our world.

It could also be titled things every person in the world should learn about to end bigotry and shaming of self and others : a handbook for unapologetic living
