Publisher's summary

The acclaimed Catholic writer and apologist Frank Sheed presents one of the most clear and outstanding explanations of the central doctrines of the Christian faith ever written. He starts with a compelling case of good reasons for anyone to study theology, and the wonderful rewards that accompany such a pursuit.

After explaining how God is Spirit, Sheed examines God's infinity and man's creation from nothing. He then covers in depth such key doctrines as the Trinity, the Fall, the Incarnation and Redemption, the Mystical Body, Grace and the Sacraments, and the Last Things. For those to whom these doctrines seem formidable, Sheed brings a fresh approach with lucid and carefully reasoned prose. His beautiful insights and clear explanations will help stir our minds to the inspiring truth of the spiritual realities at the center of human existence.

Must read/listen

I recently completed a Masters degree in Theology and yet still found this book immensely helpful. Frank Sheed, in witty and compelling prose, helped fill in a number of gaps in my theological knowledge and provided a helpful synthesis of the whole. Kate does a good job of narrating his work clearly and quickly. It is great to have it in audible format for quick and easy review - which is something you'll want to do! I highly highly recommend it!

Great listen for anyone wanting to learn about Catholic Theology

The author lays a firm foundation for what we believe. Narrator does a great job too. Having listened to this, one should feel very confident that they can give a good explanation to others for the joy we possess.

I wish Sheed’s other works were also on Audible.

Very Good Introduction

This book is read at a driving pace and relistening to sections helped clarify some if the harder content. It is a great book and introduction to the defense of many aspects of the faith.

Classic Catholic Theology

A solid reading of this classic Catholic apologetics work. Sheed’s explanation of the trinity is one of the best. This works well as an intro to Sheed’s “Theology and Sanity”

very important

I learned a lot from this book. the steam of This Book Is that Catholics should know their Doctrine. It is their Duty. But it is also an act of love that we must offer our Lord. We must drive to know him. and we must be conversant in the doctrine in engaging with unbelievers

The material is excellent, the reader way too fast

The material is excellent, however, the reader goes through the work much too fast. The material, because of its manner and systematic presentation, needs to be received slowly, read at a pace that can be taken in. This is not possible in this edition.
