Publisher's summary

There's almost nothing Wanda Jefferson wants more than a family to call her own, and she's almost got it all with her husband, Heath, a beautiful home in the suburbs, and her soul-satisfying work with her best friends as part of OOPS-a paranormal crisis hotline.

Yet, still, there's a tiny hole in Wanda's heart she longs to fill with a baby. As she and Heath explore adoption, and finally bring home a beautiful baby boy with the support of their friends and family, everything that can go wrong, does.

First, no one, not even Nina the baby-loving vampire, can soothe the cranky infant. He cries constantly, bringing Wanda's insecurities as a new mother out in full force. Then banshee Sal Brice and sexy skinwalker Grey Hamlin show up, and, yikes, do they have a tale to tell - one that involves a diabolical plan that threatens Wanda's newly formed family.

You know what that means, right? Hell hath no fury like the OOPS women on a case!

Contains mature themes.

Some of the Previous Reviews

Some reviewers have indicated a rewriting of. History in this book, however they seem to forget these Paranormals are sel-healing so said missing uterus to being pregnant is not only plausible but rather probable.

author is forgetting her own story's

another great opps story but have been noticing for a while now that the author is forgetting little tidbits about the world she's built and it's getting worse in this book Nina refers to her daughter as half vamp half witch which isn't true she's half vamp half-genie or a vampenie her mother is the only half witch half vampire and she didn't start that way till after her daughter was born starting to worry

Confusing...

Yes, Wanda adopted a baby as she can't have children due to having her uterus removed for health reasons. But the author may have forgotten about that as she had the character get pregnant. The story as usual is funny, dramatic and always has adventure in them. These books make for a light enjoyable read. This audio version is an excellent read by Hollie Jackson.

rewriting history

So in the book, where we follow Wanda. well learned that while she was married the first time, she had a partial hysterectomy. it's where they remove just the uterus, but leave the ovaries so the body still has its hormones and the woman doesn't go threw menopause. anyway, part of the reason she didn't learn she had ovarian cancer earlier was because she didn't go to the doctor but she didn't have uterus. so how the hell are we suppose to believe that it just grew back and all is well and now she's pregnant..

What would an OOPs story be

without a little happiness in the form of a zombie baby in need of a good home. I love that Wanda wants a baby, and anyone that's read the books would know that she'll probably be the best mom ever, next to Nina of course. Needless to say, it's also super important to remember that without some kind of issue in the adoption there wouldn't be a book or much of a story.
As far as performance goes, Hollie Jackson does a great job on some voices but is just not so good with the deeper male tones, of which there are quite a few in these books, so she's not the best narrator for this series, Meredith Mitchell did a phenomenal job back in the earlier books.
The story is cute, but not amazing. I like Sal and Grey, but I think there's not enough development of them as major characters because Sal has a backstory, but there's not much to really build the character. Similarly, Nina's character has changed as the series progressed, but where she's always been recalcitrant and unpleasant at times she now easily, too easily and too early morphs into a marshmallow. Blame it on therapy if you must, but it just doesn't work for me. Nina will always reluctantly show warmth towards the person/paranormal in need, but it shouldn't be a snap change.
