Returning from Europe, Ann learns she is to marry a man of her father’s choosing once they arrive in New York. Refusing, she runs away, although she can’t go far on a steam ship. Only as far as the stateroom of a very handsome soldier.

There’s only one guaranteed way to save a woman from a bad marriage, and that’s to marry her himself. Ann is surprised Robert will go to such lengths to protect her, but stunned when she won’t just be marrying him, but his fellow soldier, Andrew, as well.

Prequel

Note: At the time of this review, this is included in Audible’s Plus catalog. At 90 minutes, it’s not worth a credit - but for free, it’s OK.

This short story is best enjoyed when you’re looking for “they’re all virgins” MFM erotica with very little story development and only mediocre attempts at making it “historical”.

Escaping an arranged marriage, Ann runs & hides out in second class. There she encounters Robert & Andrew who both want to marry her. Most of the story centers around the sex immediately following their hasty marriage.

As this is a prequel, there’s not much to the plot other than the slight explanation that many ex-soldiers who served near a country that practices polygamy. They have decided to start their own city/ranch in the “Montana territory” where they’re all free to share wives.

Narration:
Kylie Stewart’s narration is interesting. She handles a lot of accents and speaking voices well, but there’s an almost robotic cadence to the main text. I’m not sure if it’s her or Vale’s sometimes clipped writing.

Insta-Holden, Insta-ménage

It’s all about the ménage.
For free in Audible Plus, I can suspend the eyeroll of a girl going from innocent to begging for a finger up her fanny in her very first bedding with two men she’s married within minutes of their first conversation.
For that matter, I can forgive the stretched storylines and fanciful world chock full of ménage loving MFM strangers who bump into each other and into each other’s cabins like “pardon me… oh, excuse me …
I didn’t mean to walk in on your MFM honeymoon!”
Given the insta-kink, this series is just begging for a male narrator- or two.

Bridgewater Menage Series review

This review is for all 12 books in the series. All are short and the stories don't drag on. I listened to the whole series in about 3 days. I listened to the other Bridgewater series prior to this one, and enjoyed them. It was interesting to listen to this series, to learn where Bridgewater County starts off. I recall one of the books referring to their "ancestors" in the Bridgewater county series. As for the Bridgewater Menage series, The basic plot for all the stories repeats, but with different characters. Each one has a woman who is running from something, gets claimed by a bridgewater duo (and in one book a trio), she's hiding something which causes a big repercussion and resolution. The majority of each of the books is about the characters. The "problem" in each book gets handled rather quickly, and is not drawn out. Overall the books are a great "light" read; low angst and plenty of heat. Vanessa Vale has used Kylie Stewart for all of her Bridgewater stories. This is the one thing I'm disappointed in. Kylie is an "ok" narrator, but I don't feel like she's the right fit for these stories. I would have liked her to choose a dual narration style as well as pick narrators that would suit the personalities of the characters. There are very few narrators I feed do justice to an entire series, and Kylie Stewart is not one of them. The books tend to blur, not only because of the repeating plots, but the narration as well. Throughout the series, the characters from previous books are integral to the current book, and I had to stop and be reminded what a certain characters "story" was.

Not worth the credit

I am not sure if it is the writing, or the narration, but I kept checking how much time was left in this story. A little too unbelievable.
Don't think I will be continuing this series, even with it being free with Plus

oh my effing gosh!

all I can say is thank you Ms vale. I have searched high and low for a new author to captivate me with their genius mind and yours albeit talented is beautifully sexy and very enthralling. I was gone from "this is audible" lol. so many authors on here have good books but the narrator is bad or the book is not enticing enough but the narration is good. you Ms vale have done a great job with the both. I only wish your books were longer.

I like the basis of the story

I like the basis of the story. The double guy thing isn’t for me but if it were a man with double female…. Probably a little more exciting

I learned so much…

…about ménages a trois. It’s just, I wasn’t necessarily looking for that in a listening experience. And poor Kylie Stewart; it must be so hard, acting as well as she managed to while wearing a butt plug.
Now I have to try to return Books 2 & 3…

Disapointed

This was kinda boring. I'll try the next one but will give up on the series if it's not exponentially better.

Really short but really good story too

I have yet to find a Vanessa Vale’s novella or books that I don’t enjoy. This is no exception, it was excellent but very short and steamy. I’ve got to give it to Vanessa, she can pack a lot of heat in a 1,5h short story.

Saved

This is an enjoyable short story. With not 1 but 2 heroes to save the day this leading lady is very lucky. A fantastic performance from Kylie.

Start with this book first!!!

Gives a greater context to the rest of the series! Great to see how the journey began for the community & it’s many groupings.
