Publisher's Summary

If you love the Wild Wild West, you’ll love this hot historical set in the Montana Territory!

Emma James felt secure in her life. Money, social standing, and the protection of her stepbrother. Or so she thought. When she discovers his dark secrets, he turns on her and sells her to a western brothel to keep her quiet. There, she’s forced to work or participate in an auction...and she’s the prize.

One look at Emma James, and Whitmore Kane and Ian Stewart know she would belong to them. Marriage was the only way to truly claim her...so they bid and bid well. As their bride, they return to the Bridgewater Ranch and teach her the ways to please not one husband, but two. But danger has tracked Ian around the world and threatens their newfound relationship. Together, can they fight the demons of the past while forging a future?

This is the first book in the USA Today best-selling series, where you’ll meet all of the men in Kane and Ian’s army regiment and discover their unusual beliefs on marriage. Listen to the entire series to follow along as the men, two or three at a time, claim their brides.

Boring erotica

There is such a thing as too much sex. I knew what I was getting into, but I—don’t know why—expected a bit of a plot. No such thing here.

I’m not giving it a terrible rating because it never pretended to be anything else than what it was. If anything, it’s my fault for having unrealistic expectations. However, I’ve read better in this genre, so there’s that to consider.

Ruined the series for me!!!!

I am so unbelievably pissed on how she wrote this story. she made it seem like a dirty thing that they almost forced her into and that does not inspire romance more like inspires me to want to go there and save her from these horrible men you have written! they were awesome in the first prequel and now in this book they are overbearing a-holes! I am so unbelievably upset with this author I have no words...

MFM

Note: At the time of this review, this is included in Audible’s Plus catalog. For me it’s not worth a credit - but for free, it’s OK.

These novellas are best enjoyed when you’re looking for “they’re all virgins” MFM erotica with very little story development and only mediocre attempts at making it “historical”. I was hoping for a little more plot than the prequel short story - but Vale opted to add more sex scenes.

Emma is sold by her evil step brother to a brothel. The madam opts to auction her off as a bride instead. Kane & Ian buy her to take back to their polygamy compound. There’s some dub con issues where the guys just inform her of what they’re going to do or, in the case of spanking, just do it. I read plenty of kink - but this doesn’t always feel consensual.

Vale writes that Emma’s step brother “will be taken care of”, but nothing happens to resolve that. There’s an issue with Ian’s previous military service - but he just comes back and it’s all OK without real explanation. I realize these are quick listens, but storyline resolutions would have been nice.

Short, sexy, easy to binge, & light listen.

Narration:
Kylie Stewart’s narration is OK. She handles the accents and speaking voices well, but there’s still something stilted/flat about the main text.

Terrible narration

I can tolerate mediocre reading, even when they don’t attempt to alter the tone of voice for men but for someone who reads the story like it’s a text book and on top of all that mispronounces even the simplest of words, is completely aggravating. At least this book was included in the plus catalog and I didn’t have to pay extra or use a credit.

this one missed the mark

I'm not sure human trafficking, rape, and Stockholm syndrome are the best things to base a romance novel on. I feel like someone should have realized this wasn't a good idea before now. Vanessa vale is one of my favorites but this one definitely wasn't her best.

Felt like the guys were overbearing

I’ve loved all this authors stories but this one left me angry and insulted. I guess some people love submissive and brow beaten women. It wasn’t tender or loving to me. Servitude is great and welcome but humiliating someone in front of others is cruel. To many other ways to teach and make a point.

Excellent Beginning

Excellent beginning to the series. However the changes to the characters are not subtle at all! book two "Thier Wayward bride" describes Simon as a blonde brawny man, this book says he has dark hair. Also, this book says that Connor is Simon's Brother but the Fourth book "Thier Treasuresd Bride" makes Dash and Simon Brothers. also, the narrorator reads that Ian's last name was Monroe, but the very same chapter changes it to Stuart. Thats a bit confusing but all in all an interesting concept for a series that targets woman who like dominant men!

70s p😜rno plot goes western regency

It’s free. It’s kinky. It’s quick. Only enough story to get to the MFM domination with a girl who goes from virgin to vixen at the very first bang. This would be melty, cheesy gold with a male narrator like
Jacob Morgan or Shane East. It’s fine for a slow news day, as long as it remains free in Audible Plus.
This installment features a Scot and an Englishman, and the over-use of “cunny” (blech).

Absolute worst

I wish I could give this terrible story negative stars, for so, so many reasons.

Not as good as the first one

This is a straight up erotica and I wish there was a bit more story to go with the spice. I normally enjoy Vanessa’s writing but this one I found disappointing.

Good story, but questionable narration

I enjoyed the story, but it was obvious on numerous occasions that a different narrator's voice was used to insert sentences here and there! This was annoying as it was so obvious!
