Well, time gets away from us but here is Episode 3! It has been a busy week of packing the shop trucks up and traveling up to tech. Then it was like the first day of school and man was it a time. It was great to get back to work and do what we love. We discuss what happens in the first few days of tech from spot call, dumping the trucks, and how a plan is made. We also become a food podcast and talk about some amazing restaurants in town.

Tom Littrell is originally from Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1970, he graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas – (look it up!). He was drafted, spent three years in the Army, and then went back to graduate school in technical theatre. A friend's cousin worked for a company in Dallas called Showco. They provided large-scale lighting and sound systems to rock tours. Tom dropped out of grad school to do a tour or two with Showco, then go back and finish his degree. But his second tour was as a lighting technician on Paul McCartney's Wings over America 1976 tour. That tour…uh...set the hook so he stayed at Showco and toured with Led Zeppelin, the Who, Genesis, Linda Ronstadt, and others. In 1980, he was ready – again - to go back to grad school when Showco engineers began work on what would become the Vari-Lite system. He was asked to help with that project and delayed going back to graduate school one more time, going on the road with Genesis and the first Vari-Lite system in 1981. He programmed the moving lights and operated the console for the first show in Barcelona, Spain, and the rest of the tour. He continued at Vari-Lite for another twenty years – touring with Genesis as well as David Bowie, ZZ Top, Hall and Oates, Don Henley, and many other concert and corporate event clients. Later he did technical product management and marketing.

In 2002, Showco/Vari-Lite was sold and Tom was laid off. He immediately called ETC. Happily, they offered him a job and he and his wife Stacy moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 2004. He was Fixtures Product Manager for ten years and then became an outreach and training specialist. He retired in August 2020 after seventeen years with ETC. He loves Madison – but could do without the winters.

FYI, he still doesn't have a graduate degree and wonders if he should go back to school.

Brian Munroe is a graduate of SUNY Purchase, 28 year IATSE member, and former president of IATSE Local 74, for 9 years. Brian has been a Production or head carpenter on numerous broadway shows, including "Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk", "Hairspray", "Rock of Ages", "Hedwig and The Angry Inch", "Anastasia", several pre-broadway tours, advance carpenter on Jersey Boys 1st National and several of the sit-downs (LA, Toronto, Las Vegas)

Brian is currently the Head Carpenter on "Hadestown" on Broadway, an ETCP Rigger (theatrical), and an IATSE Special Representative for over 10 years.

Bryan Johnson is an award-winning Props and Special Effects Designer, Artisan and Technician for theatre, opera, film and television. Bryan was awarded the 2010 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival National Design award for his Special Effects design for the Tulsa Community College production of Elektra. Bryan is also a three-time KCACTF Region 6 award winner.

Bryan went on to become a Lead Props and Special Effects Technician with Blue Man Group-Las Vegas for five years, where he fabricated, maintained and operated the long running show. During his time with Blue Man Group, Bryan designed and created several themed art installations for the company's involvement with the local community. As a puppeteer for the show, Bryan also worked hands-on with Michael Curry puppetry and robotic show elements from Show Creators. His work has appeared worldwide in publications, including "Stage Directions" and "Lighting & Sound America." Bryan's theatrical body of work includes; Props Design and Artisanship, Magic/Illusion Design, Mask Making, Puppetry, Lighting Design and Special Effects Makeup.

Bryan currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he owns and operates 'Bryan Johnson Creative' and is the Properties Designer and Artisan with the Tulsa Opera. He is a member of the Society of Props Artisan Managers, the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, a faculty member with The Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas and remains active with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
