Publisher's summary

Today's view of history cannot account for ancient anomalies, such as the Pyramids and advanced knowledge contained in India's Vedas. But in 1894, an Indian sage gave us an explanation not only for our hidden past but for the trends of today and for our future enlightenment - the 24,000-year yuga cycle.

Excellent book but one slight problem

This book is great and should be regular reading for everyone, but I am about to step on some toes in this review. I have no qualms with the yugas mind you those are true compared to the idea Einstein stole then manipulated into a wrong equation from James clerk Maxwell and Max von laue. Maxwell is very difficult to understand for most, sadly I am still unfamiliar with Laue but einstein got lost trying to understand Maxwell. Anyone who knows Electricity knows that due to the errant Einstein equation electricity and electrical lines of force shouldn't exist but obviously they do and they are engineerable and have practical applications. This theory undermines Sri Yukteswar Giri and his statement of the universe being made up of fine particles and electricities because according to Einstein electricity doesn't exist which anyone who works in the electrical field knows is a farse beyond reproach. I hope the authors are looking more closely at electricity and electrical theory and actions within electricity that do not have an explanation to how it works. We as human being will find the answers that have eluded us, because those who idolize Einstein have and are following his errant equation are not thinking clearly but are lost thinking to deeply while leading us down the wrong path. Read J.J. Thompson's works, anything you can find on Ernst Alexanderson, anything and everything Charles Proteus Steinmetz has done and finally Eric P Dollard. Tesla is definitely in the mix and we need to follow his example especially pertaining to experimentation and not getting lost in mathematical equations that have nothing to do with the Natural world and the more we don't consider ourselves as part of the Natural world the farther we will stray from truth of reality. This book is great when listening to the Yugas and historical significance is beyond the scope we can appreciate currently the consuming capitalist society we live in is exactly the opposite to how we should be living. I have read this book several times now and still consider it a must read for everyone especially pertaining to the Yugas.

Fascinating

The book has content that cannot be verified empirically but it is fantastic and fascinating surely. If you are familiar with Eastern spiritual concepts the contents of this book may not come as a surprise. Frankly, they sound intuitive deep down no matter how strange they sound to our ears. A lot of religious philosophy would actually tie neatly into it. Keep an open heart and you might actually come out a little more sceptical about the modern “obvious” knowledge.

Splendid narration, highly intelligent viewpoint

Wonderful smooth-voiced articulate narrator. The text has vocabulary from Sanskrit, classical Chinese, and French. The narrator handles it all beautifully.

The book itself is a great listen! I read The Holy Science 50 years ago. Ever since Sri Yukteswar's dual-sun description shook my teenage worldview, it's been on my mind.

How delightful it is now, to hear this exquisite presentation of copious scientific evidence, comparative interpretive frameworks, and future expectations.

Selbie and Steinmetz demonstrate that a wide array of modern data not only fits nicely into the ancient Yuga typology, but also that the organizing principle of a cosmic year can help to resolve many inconsistencies in current evolutionary theory.

To support the viability of 4-section, 24,000-year cycle -- which, as they point out, exists in many cultural heritages, including ancient Greek -- the authors present a compelling selection of archeological, historical, and astronomical observations. Their outlay provides a richly compassionate Big Picture view of human spiritual-mental-emotional-physical unfoldment over vast periods of time, in multiples of 12/24.

Assiduously researched, each tasty treat of knowledge is offered like a spread of delicacies on a buffet table. I relished each exploration of various disciplinary perspectives (e.g., paleontology, depth psychology, sacred traditions, machine engineering). On the third listen now. So engaging!

As other readers have said, the best part of knowing about the Yuga cycles is a deep feeling of purpose, meaning, and comfort. In these emerging times especially, for those who are ready to know, the authors deliver a great gift.

Life changing insight

This is fascinating and for me, rings true. As if remembering a distant past. This really puts life into perspective.

Fairy tale story

Zero citations basically. It’s a bed time story essentially about how all these unsupported presuppositions are real and true - strong confirmation bias cherry picks select historical events to squeeze in to a forced point. Not at all informative or academic in any way. It’s just a disappointing story that a drunk neighbor will tell you at a back yard cookout while you try to find a way to flee without being rude. Waste of a audible credit.

Absolute massacre of Yugas

Was looking for a working translation of Vedic texts and instead got a heaping bowl of wandering crackpot modern philosophy with nary even a whiff of Hindu scriptures. Great disappointment with this purchase.

Advance re-arrange of humanity frameworks

Comming from a science background and a Catholic Family I have pass the last 10 years trying to let go limiting beliefs that limitate our opportunity to perceive beyond our senses. I want to Yale the authors for the approach, that resonates with muy personal development experience and invite others to hear beyond the limitations of what they know or have been raised to believe

Makes Sense of Unexplained History

An outstanding perspective. Something about this alternative look at our ancient and current history really rings true for me. I have listened to this book 2 times and started my third while listening with my friend. He also is intrigued with this ancient wisdom. Keep an open mind and take a look or listen and see how it feels to you. Five stars in every category!

Logical and Concise.

This is the first book that actually is focused and infinitely understandable in its attempt to clarify many mysteries and concepts from past ages. Brilliantly written. A must for anyone interested in spirituality and religion and who has an interest in many of the unexplained mysteries from the past.
