Not what I was expecting

Good advice and tips here and there, but most of the examples of good dialogue come from the author's own other books. Sometimes they're so long that I forget what the point is supposed to be. Part of me wonders if it's to try and spark an interest in her novels. Perhaps this book should be read on the page and not heard. I don't know; it just annoyed me, and I can't finish it. Also, it's about writing dialogue for novels. I wanted it for screenplay.

Over 1/4 is advertising

there is some good advice here. but there's also a lot of just a quotes of her writing. and a quarter of the book is an advertisement for other books. was it worth a couple dollars? possibly. but I do wonder if maybe there were other resources that would have given me more information and better advice.

Returning

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

You would have to be someone who had NEVER even read a book before for this content to be informative.

Will be listening to this several more times.

I intend to buy the other manuals written by this author as soon as I'm finished writing this review. Within the first five minutes of this book the author had already hit on several major issues I've been having in writing dialogue. I seem to have been doing almost everything wrong, and after listening to this I have a great deal of hope that I may actually be able to fix myself. The narrator did a wonderful job throughout. I listened to this while driving though, and will be listening to the others while driving. I think I absorbed maybe 20% of the information imparted in this book on my first listen. I expect I will be listening to all these books many times before I feel I have no more truly new to gain from them. Then I will keep listening to them to make sure I dont forget.

To the author: Thank you for providing these in such easily digestible pieces. My preference of further work would be any major pitfalls and suggestions that may be found for writing fantasy, scifi, or multiple books within a single universe. Thank you again.

I'm always learning a great deal from S.A. Soule.

Wonderful vivid examples, that make the concepts easy to grasp and implement. The narration was excellent as well.

Excellent excellent aid to my writing

I wish all her books were in audio format. I have them on Kindle but sometimes I don't have time to read everything over and over. I can listen when I drive and workout to drum her tips into my head. I am a huge fan now!
