Publisher's summary

Eloped at the age of 18. Separated at the age of 18. Disappeared at the age of 18. This is what happened to Calla Greer. Her perfect life was shattered on her wedding day when she caught her husband Cain with another woman just hours after they said I do. With her heart broken, she moves across the border to Windsor, Canada to get away from the nightmare she stumbled upon. Hell bent on going to college and fulfilling her dream of becoming a lawyer.

After six long years of still being married, Calla returns to Detroit to have Cain sign divorce papers. Only Cain has changed. He's bitter, angry, and for a good reason. At least that's what he's been telling himself for the past six years.

Cain Bexley had 15 minutes to destroy his marriage to protect the woman he loved. He did the only thing he could think of to make her leave. He jumped in bed with a woman. Life at home was a lie. Lives were at risk. People are not who they seem. Not even Cain's dad or Calla's parents are who they say they are. When Calla shows up begging for a divorce. He shows her exactly who he is and no way in hell will he sign those papers.

What happens when six years later she returns? The only woman he has loved. A woman who has changed herself! When all the lies surface will she be able to forgive everyone she has trusted in her life or will Calla turn to the man who destroyed her?

Wrath of Cain Stars

I probably would have rated this higher it there was so much unnecessary drama or a lot of repetitive speak/thoughts, I found my mind wandering. Especially in the first half of the book.
Near the second half is where I really got in to the story and then was invested in the characters.

Cain was a mystery but he put his heart on the line for Calla. He tried to be all tough be alpha you women but she totally put the kibosh on that haha. I love that she never took any grief from him. She said what was on her mind and didn't give a flying f* of the consequences.

Calla, what can I say she was a little whinny for my tastes but she was a strong female character and I can respect that. She didn't show much fear at all. I can’t say that I would be able to just drive in to a MC with my head held high like she did then she got in to a cat fight and was able to hold her own… Mad respect for her for that.

The dynamic between her and Manny was a huge part of the book for me, you could see the friendship they had I am so glad his book is next because I need more Manny/ Roan.

Over all I enjoyed the book, the narrator was ok, I liked some of her voices but some were just not good. The one for Calla’s uncle yeah no… just no.. but all the other male voices weren't too bad I could tell who was speaking just by the distanced voice. I would listen to her again.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Very bad narrator, it's a good book thou

The narrator was not very good in my opinion. She struggled badly with the voices. I love the ebook of this story, but not the audible version.

I received a free Audible audiobook copy of this book from the narrator for free in exchange for my honest review. I am sad to report that at 12%, I wanted to quit listening. At this early point in the audiobook I was already very frustrated by the ridiculous storyline and was simultaneously struggling to listen to narrator Stacy Hinkle who consistently spoke with an overzealous, overly enthusiastic voice. Wanting to keep my commitment, I forced myself to continue listening yet only listened to the first 1/4 of the audiobook before finally quitting. Although I appreciated the narrator's attempt to evoke emotion, I felt it was excessive and worse, totally incongruent with the storyline much of the time. Although it was very distracting, I tried to force myself to ignore Hinkle's subpar performance yet because The Wrath Of Cain was so far-fetched and unrealistic, I finally quit. Life is short with way too many good books out there waiting to be read/listened to.
