Publisher's Summary

Charlie Nelson is just walking down the street, minding his own business, when he’s suddenly killed in a brutal drive-by shooting…or is he? When he finally forces his eyes open again, he’s lying in a hospital bed, and he can tell right away that something is very, very wrong.

But nothing can prepare him for the shock of looking in a mirror, and seeing a gorgeous teenage girl staring back at him!

It can’t be true, it just can’t! He’s a strong, virile man! He’s not a woman, doesn’t want to be a woman, doesn’t know the first thing about being a woman!

Like it or not, though, he’s about to find out!

The nightmare seems never-ending as he’s forced to adjust to his new body’s limitations. Peeing sitting down isn’t so hard…except when he forgets he needs to sit. He has to endure the danger of hot curling irons, the wretched indignity of a girly-girl pedicure…and monthly cramps! Who knew being a woman was so traumatic?

And how do they tolerate barbaric torture devices like pantyhose and brassieres without going insane?

He has to blend, though, or the hospital shrinks will toss him in the looney bin!

Just when he thinks his new life can’t possibly get any worse, he’s finally reunited with his lifelong best friend, Daniel. Can he convince Dano he’s really trapped inside Charlotte Duncan’s lush young body before Dano, a rakish womanizer, tries to seduce him? And what the hell is happening to Charlotte’s traitorous body when Dano touches him? Surely he’s not really getting turned on by Dano’s broad shoulders, narrow hips, and the huge bulge in his shorts!

“The Woman Who Wasn’t” is a hysterically funny rollercoaster ride of body swapping, gender-bending, and hot virgin seduction!

Quirky, Bizarre and Entertaining....Steam!

Hadn’t read the full information on the story before listening, but it didn’t take too long to figure where it was going.
Despite knowing figuring some of the story line out, it was funny listening to what was going on in Charlie’s mind..a fun and pretty spot on determination of life in a woman’s body.
Also it is interesting two guys who are best friends forever, sleeping around or with the same woman at the same time..love each other as friends and what happens to these two heterosexual guys!
Persephone Rose always does an excellent job and did so in this story...can usually plan on a story off the norm!

Very Interesting Take on Relationships

The story was well written and thought out. A little uncomfortable at times thinking about the fact that these two characters were best friends since early childhood and had several sexual conquests of the same women. Now the tables have canted slightly and they find that the love they felt for each other as two heterosexual men can now be explored as a heterosexual couple.

The narration was perfect. Persephone Rose has increasingly gotten better with time. Very awesome.

Great Story! Great Listen🎧 4.5 Hot🔥Stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

An interesting and entertaining story. Imagine waking up in the body of the opposite sex, well Pornelope did and plotted it well. I found Charles adjustments to the female anatomy hysterical, peeing standing up, LOL! Hating boobs because they get in the way and bounce, LOL! Yes, men, hear that!! Great character development and story buildup for a short, though it did seem rushed at the end maybe because I wished the story was longer and got some more Charlie and Dano!! Thank you for this great story.

I listened to the audible edition, Persephone Rose is a wonderful narrator. A natural talent who performed the voices of all the characters, switched vocals back and forth effortlessly keeping the story in a perfect flow with the right amount of dramatic flair. Thank your for the great listen!

good narration

I enjoyed the turmoil and challenges between Charlie and Daniel. I thought this was an excellent idea for a book. I know these are short hot naughty books, but I do wish this one went into more character development and went longer. It has an excellent concept of a story and she really could've ran with it.

Narration by Mr. Rose was awesome as always.

Good Read

The Woman Who Wasn't was a good quick read by Pornelope. Charlie was walking down the street and minding his own business when he was killed in a drive-by. Yet he wakes up in a different body, that of a woman.

Pornelope does it again

Love, love, love, love, love this story. Pornelope is the only one who can do gender bending erotica with so much class. No absurdly raunchy or corny sex dialog, just a hot erotica story from a slightly different viewpoint. During a sudden and violent event, Charlie Nelson's consciousness (or soul perhaps) is ejected from his body into another nearby victim. It's not the craziest book plot I've ever heard. If you can buy that small bit of sci-fi (or twist of fate) detail, it makes for a totally believable erotic fantasy. The characters reactions and emotions are very practical as the situation escalates to a predictable but awesome climax.

Charlie. Everyone calls me Charlie.

Waking from a coma in an hospital bed after being a drive by shooting victim, Charlie realizes that something is wrong. And it is. Somehow Charles Anthony Nelson has taken the body of another victim, Charlotte Duncan, a seventeen years old wealthy and very girly girl. He will have to learn to adapt to being shorter, weaker and petite as well as cope with those other female attributes like sitting down to pee, periods and pedicures. And Charlie really missed his lifelong friend, Daniel.

An amusing book of 'differences' moving on into an erotic zone, all well written and great fun. Read by Persephone Rose, whose deliciously warm voice accentuates the text, this is a short but very enjoyable book (adults only).

Silly but sexy, a pleasant surprise

The Woman Who Wasn't is a fun, sexy, 'genderswap' short story about a handsome man who - following a fatal shooting - finds himself in the body of a beautiful woman.

This story's strength lies in the fact that it doesn't take itself seriously. It's very silly and pokes fun at the plentiful anatomical differences between men and women, but the clumsy stereotypes it invokes for comedic effect may annoy some. I found the womanly experiences Charlie encounters as he adjusts to his new body amusing; his views on menstruation, shaving, and the inconvenience of having to wear a bra all provided familiar laughs.

It does raise a few questions about whether sexuality is a biological or psychological preference (as the previously-straight guy becomes interested in other men once in a woman's body) but this audiobook doesn't set out to be a rigorous social commentary and never really addresses it in any depth beyond the protagonist's amorous confusion. There was some wry humour in the single-minded way Charlie's best friend pursued him despite his protests. That experience may have been more authentically female than learning to pee sitting down!

The inevitability of the friends' connection was predictable, but not unbelievable. I was torn between feeling like it was a missed opportunity to write a good same-gender romance, and understanding that in many ways that's exactly what it sets out to be. In essence, Charlie remains innately 'Charlie', though Daniel perceives him more as Charlotte so it's an odd kind of 'bromance', with a blend of both homoerotic and heterosexual themes.

Ultimately it lives up to its promise as a steamy exploration of friendship and boundaries, and it probably says a lot about my own cynicism that I found the tender/romantic moments tested my suspension of disbelief much more than the body-swap!

The narrator Persephone Rose has a smooth voice and an engaging 'story-teller' style of reading. Rather ironically, given the premise of this audiobook, I was expecting a female narrator when I first saw that it was narrated by a performer named Persephone Rose. I was unfamiliar with the narrator's other work, and though I try not to make gendered assumptions about authors or narrators, I was definitely caught out this time! I think the decision to opt for a masculine voice for this audiobook was the right one, as the protagonist was a man who awoke in a woman's body, and it is told from his perspective. Rose performed the piece well, and was easy to listen to.

I'll keep an eye out for other collaborations between this author and narrator, as this title was a pleasant surprise. If you're looking for a well narrated erotic short with a variation on the usual m/m and m/f sensual scenarios, then give this one a whirl!
