Publisher's summary

Calliope Thorne is a good girl. A straight-A student, a rule follower, and an aspiring ballerina.

But most of all, she’s a good sister to her four older brothers. Brothers whom she loves and adores to pieces. Brothers who love and adore her to pieces in return.

And who hate just one and one thing only – Reed Jackson.

Rich, arrogant, and the most popular guy at Bardstown High, Reed is Callie’s brothers’ enemy and she has sworn to stay away from him.

Until one night when she wanders into the woods and finds herself in his clutches. A villain with pretty gray eyes and a seductive smirk.

Until he asks her to dance for him with a look in those eyes that makes her forget why falling for her brothers’ enemy is a bad idea.

Note: This is a 39,000-word prequel for A Gorgeous Villain. The story concludes in A Gorgeous Villain.

Falling for the enemy!

This was a cute opposites attract romance.

This was a bit slow paced for me and I found myself fast forwarding a couple scenes.

However, I did enjoy the overall story and narration.

The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy so good

There’s team rivalry between Callie’s brother and Reed, and her overprotective brothers warn her about him, but she can’t resist. A rivalry that will cost everything, and betrayal is never far behind. A promise is a promise, even if it is between an innocent ballerina and a soccer player/playah. What would you sacrifice for and against love? Turns out the collateral damage is more than the MCs can afford. Come on, haven’t we all been Callie once or twice? I know I have, and I felt this girl deep in my marrow. I wept for her. Us girls never learn or remember the warnings about the villains we fall for, their silver tongues or the promises they make as we fall into the love abyss, but we never forget the heartbreak. Reed gives you the clues to his truth if you’re listening. Their love story shapes up to be one of SAK’s BEST romances.

There’s nothing better than the wide-eyed, guileless innocence and heartwrenching vulnerability of SAK’s delectable teen heroines and Callie is all that and much more … but she’s upped her game to whole new level with the likes of Reed Roman Jackson, the high school soccer god nicknamed Wild Mustang for obsessive love of his car. Her heroes are usually love-to-hate, hate-to-love dirtbags who redeem themselves by the end of every novel, but Reed is a whole fresh bag of tricks. This brief setup novella of how they meet is filled with spontaneous seduction, steam, erotic heat and sexual tension that has all the earmarks of first love and HEAs … but is it? And when the angst kicks in, it’s pedal to the metal. Their relationship was a rocket ship of panting temptation and a volcanic eruption that ends with a bang AND a whimper.

The narrated did such an outstanding job telling this story. they brought the characters to life. i highly recommend everyone to check out this book.

Great story!

This is a good story. It moves a bit slow but it's worth it. The end is wonderful. The narrator does a great job telling the story. I look forward to the next book in the series.

A great beginning

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Saffron A Kent. Excellent writing, great storyline, and characters easy to become invested in. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story!

Stephanie Kay is an excellent narrator. She uses so much emotion. It's rolling like a movie in my head. Great performance!

5 STARS!

I absolutely loved My Darling Arrow so I couldn’t wait to dive back in to that world. I have to say this book was everything until the end that had me in tears. My heart broke right along Callie’s. Luckily A Gorgeous Villain is available so off I go to see if my heart and Callie’s can be put back together.

Narration was amazing! Stefanie Kay is quickly becoming one of my top female narrators.

Prepare To Be Big Mad At Reed Jackson!

This prequel novella will absolutely get you heated and sets the stage for A Gorgeous Villain perfectly. We knew from My Darling Arrow that something went down with Callie to land her at St Mary’s and this is the backstory of how she fell for the villain of her story and got burned and burned good.

I’ll admit after listening to this one I was not happy with Reed but definitely intrigued and hooked on the story because I need to know how this will all shake out in A Gorgeous Villain especially knowing which trope that book is from My Darling Arrow. I have to say I really enjoyed her moment of revenge at the end even if she regretted it as soon as she did it.

This novella is entirely from Callie’s POV and I thought the narrator did a fantastic job bringing her innocence and naivety to life.

Just fair warning there is no HEA in this novella because it is setting up for one in the next book.

The Prequel to A Gorgeous Villain

What a wonderful start to an amazing story. I have been holding off on Saffron’s books for quite some time, mostly just due to having squirrel brain when it comes to my TBR, but I’m so glad I dove into her books with audible. The narrators are wonderful and do a good job giving life to these characters and makes their story line even more lively. I can’t wait to finish the entirety of the St Mary’s Rebels series because I have fallen in love with each of the characters and am truly intrigued by each of their backgrounds and how they found their way to a reform school.

Interesting prequel

Book 1.5 in the St. Mary’s Rebel series. Enemies to lovers romance with instant connection between Reed and Calliope. The chemistry between the two was palpable with a good amount of drama. My heart shattered for Callie, but I can’t wait to see what transpires next in their story.

Stefanie Kay did a really good job narrating this book.

The Wild Mustang & The Dancing Fairy

Holy moly was this book So good. Gotta say one of my favorite high schools romance book. Even though she gets her heart ❤ broken 💔 😔 😢, but hey I love how she repaid him back. I was really hoping thing would change for them and they got there happily ever after. But nope 🙅🏻 didn't happen instead he used her for a freaking win and made her look bad in front of her brother's. So not cool but he got his.

So much in this prequel, I want more!

The Wild Mustang and The Dancing Fiery by Saffron A. Kent

Narration by Stefanie Kay

Wow a great prequel for what is sure to be an explosive story. Saffron is rather new to me and I loved how she described her characters and brought their story to life. A story with a strong young women who swoons over a forbidden guy.

Callie or Calliope is an innocent girl who lives her brothers. Her really protective brothers. The same brothers who have brought Callie up. Who are her surrogate parents because she lost her mom at 4 and their father left them all behind. Wow the family ties here were deep and real. She’s a dancer and her dreams are to be a ballerina for Juilliard and she’s talented. All her brothers are soccer fanatics and her one brother that is closest in age to her is one of the star players on the school team. Ledger is a rival to another player on the team and they really bump heads in this prequel. Reed is that guy, the one everyone either loves or hates; rich, self-centred and plays with girls hearts.

A chance meeting with Tempest while watching a game, complete with fights between their brothers is a fabulous start to the book. I really loved the friendship between these two and hope for more about Tempest in books to come. Loved how Tempest is really there for Callie when she needed a friend. That scene with Reed’s Mustang and these two girls was such a shocker and I absolutely loved it and can’t wait for the next book of this series.

Reed, hmmm I don’t know if I love him or hate him at this point but that cliffhanger ending has me hating on him pretty hard. But I hope the next book The Gorgeous Villain has Reed redeeming himself and I can’t wait for more!

Just as the author was new to me, the narrator is also new and her performances were awesome. Stefanie Kay’s voice was fantastic at all the characters here. Her voice is young sounding and projected an innocence in Callie as well as showing just how strong she is too. Her performances as the brothers and Reed were great too. Easily distinguishable.

I really want to hear more. Surprisingly this prequel had so much story to it and that ending will have everyone wanting more.

Perfect ending for the prequel and really sets the pace and stage for the book to shine on.

An Awesome Prequel & Listen🎧Gripping & Heartfelt!

I loved this book, it is a prequel to “A Gorgeous Villain”, the second book book in the St. Mary’s Rebels series, a series of interconnected standalone novels. This is my first book written by Saffron A. Kent, I enjoyed her writing style, her descriptive details bring you in to the story right along side the characters allowing you to see what they are seeing, feeling and thinking. The characters are realistic, easy to related to and connect with, she makes it easy to care about them too. Calliope “Callie” Thorne, a freshman at Bardstown High School, he is an aspiring ballerina and the perfect student. She has four older, over protective brothers, she lost her Mom at a young age and her father was not in the picture but her oldest brother, Conrad, became her legal guardian. She was always a good girl and sister but now she has a crush on a senior but no ordinary senior but the one her brothers do like, and her bother Ledger’s rival. Reed Roman Jackson is the popular boy in school and has a reputation with girls, he is also arrogant and full of himself. Callie is drawn to him and can not stay away despite it being a betrayal to her brothers. There is a lot of story packed in this novella sized book, it is a beautifully plotted story, I loved the dialogue between the two lead characters, intense at times and almost like foreplay. I also loved that ending, I am looking forward to what happens in “A Gorgeous Villain”, I know it is going to be amazing! Thank you Saffron A. Kent for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Stefanie Kay is a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. She had a complete understanding of the characters she portrayed, gave each a voice that suited that character’s persona to a tee, she was believable in each role she played and sounded just as I pictured them to sound. You could hear how much heart she put into her work as she captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into her performance. She set the perfect tone for the story and handled the back-and-forth dialogue with ease, never missing a beat. Stefanie Kay is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the awesome listen!

Amazing!

Reed Jackson is Callie Thorne's brother's biggest rival. He is public enemy number 1 in her family. Callie has 4 older brothers and they are all overprotective and overbearing. They have her best interests at heart but that isn't always the most important.

These two have such chemistry. Their story was so emotional and steamy! I loved the secrets and the sneaking around, it felt forbidden and gave me total Romeo and Juliet vibes ;). I wanted the HEA, but was very shocked at the ending. I didn't expect it. Not after everything.

This is a short novella but the impact is huge! The intensity was amazing and the story is intriguing and I wanted so much more. I am so jumping straight into A Gorgeous Villain because I need all the answers!

Stefanie Kay has the perfect voice for Callie!! She was amazing.

Caught in the middle

Callie Thorne is the sister of the soccer captain of their high school. Her brother is in a rivalry with Reed Roman Jackson and she is caught in the middle between these two. Reed will do,anything to beat Ledger to be the best even use Callie to get to him. Callie likes Reed and knows she is in the middle but can’t help that she develops real feelings foe Reed. Everything culminates and Callie is so heartbroken she does something that she regrets instantly but you have to read what happens in book two. Loved this prequel and can not wait to see how Callie gets over her heartbreak.

Cruel love

This was just a peak into what is sure to be an epically tragic whirlwind of a romance.
It’s a sad beginning that will break your heart.
