For lovers of the medieval world

If you like fiction based in the medieval world, you can't beat Elizabeth Chadwick. I loved her books about William Marshall and Elinor of Aquitaine and this her very first book does not disappoint. Philippa Gregory may have the historical miniseries in her pocket, but if there's any justice, it should be Elizabeth Chadwick's works gracing the small screen.

Excellent Chadwick story as usual

I always enjoy Elizabeth Chadwick’s books. I bet the people reading would have had trouble with the Welsh. The storyline was good. The descriptions were excellent.

The Wild Hunt

I really enjoy listening to and reading Elizabeth Chadwick’s books. They are more along the lines of what historic fiction was when I was growing up-really interesting story lines with historic facts thrown in. I don’t know if this is an earlier work, but this one falls more into the romance category. The main characters may be real, there are a few actual famous people thrown in, but this just seemed more fiction and less fact and had
more contrived elements example: it is a fact that girls married young-really young-it is unreasonable to believe a husband would wait any length of time to consummate the marriage when the bride was 17 years old-12 or 13 yes, 17 yrs old, no. To prolong that event just to create sexual tension is not realistic-to our modern sensibilities it is but it isn’t realistic. I’d have preferred it was factual without the prolonged bedroom scenes-I don’t like them with adults, I wouldn’t like them when they included minors, but I prefer the marriage to be realistic without the graphic sex—that would make it more historically accurate. Like I said, I’ve read many of her other books and she deals with this situation tactfully and has A LOT more history incorporated into the tale. It is an okay romance, but if you are looking for a traditional Elizabeth Chadwick novel, you might want to skip this one. It isn’t bad enough to request a refund, it just isn’t very interesting from a historical fiction perspective.

Wonderful book!

I'm a big fan of Elizabeth Chadwick's writing and I understand that this was her very first book, book 1 of a trilogy. It tells the story of Guyon who is forced by the king to marry young lady Judith and the "wild hunt" is their falling in love and Judith's learning to love her husband. Elizabeth Chadwick does not disappoint!

My only disappointment was that "The Wild Hunt" was not available in e-book format. My only complaint is that this is a trilogy and I would love it if the other two books were also on Audible since neither is available as an e-book.
