The Russian Revolution was as red as blood. The Bolsheviks promised that they were building a new society, a workers’ paradise that would change the nature of mankind itself. What they ended up constructing was the largest prison the world had ever seen: a Union of Soviet Socialist Republics that spanned half the globe.

It was a country where people's lives meant nothing, less than nothing—and they knew it. But no matter what atrocity that the Soviets committed—the secret police, the torture chambers, the show trials, the labor camps, and the mass starvation—there was always someone in the West rushing to justify their bloodshed. For decades, it seemed perfectly obvious that the USSR wasn’t going anywhere—until it vanished from the face of the earth, gradually, and then suddenly. This is the story of the rise and fall of that evil empire, and why it is so important for the good to never give up hope. This is The White Pill.

Whoever edited this used a “strip silence” tool with the threshold way too high. Then they shuffled it all together and sped it up.

The editor of this book should consider a vacation to Siberia.

If you listen to this, listen on .9 speed and try to give MM the benefit of the doubt. His audio editor has done this book a grave disservice.

Just finished my second listen. I’ve been waiting for this book for years. I can not recommend the writing or the message highly enough.

Horrible Editing of Audio Recording

Having said that, I came here to complain about this audiobook. Mr. Malice should really hire someone to read his books. I know there’s tons of amateurs out there who would love a chance to get an audiobook credit for a reasonable fee. I typically speed books up because I want to be able to read them faster. With this book, I had to slow it down because his diction is so poor, and he reads so fast that I can’t understand what he’s saying, and I lose the thread. He’s also very monotone. It’s almost as if he can barely tolerate doing the audiobook and just wants it to get over with as quickly as possible. I mean, he could at least pretend that he’s talking to a friend across the table, instead of like he’s embarrassed to be up at the front of the class giving a report that he’s reading as quickly as he can so he can go sit down at his desk. I like Michael Malice and I like his podcast and his work. I always enjoy his point of view, and I know the content of this book is very valuable. I just wish he wouldn’t read it himself.

Michael Malice’s books are always worth reading.

Very well written book and vital information! My only criticism is the rushed narration. I slowed it down to .80 speed and it's actually pleasant to listen to.

love this book!

Great dive into what drove socialist movements, how the players fooled the masses, and the reality of what they bring to everyone within the country. The parallels to the current western social revolutions are impossible to deny. Great work, Michael Malice!

Time for Americans to (re)learn the FACTS of Socialism

The adventure of deception and betrayal that man plays on other men and how men (and women) who have souls overcome and overthrow the deception snd evil that holds them down. God is there and when people call on his name, he will deliver them from evil.

Great book Michael

Not your usual dry history of communist, totalitarian governments and rogue’s gallery of oppressors! Mr. Malice does a masterful job of explaining the gory details with sarcasm or wit in just the right places and amounts, so that you won’t turn away from the horrors of this history.
Most often I increase the reader’s speed to 1.2, but in this case I reduced the narration speed to .90, so that I could absorb it all.

Brilliant Overview of Totalitarian & Communist Leanders and their Fall!

As much as I appreciate Michael Malice, I was disappointed with this book. It sounds as though it was read in someone's kitchen line by line and then had the speed adjusted. I've tried to adjust the speed in the app but it just doesn't sound anywhere close to natural.

Probably better off reading this one

Alexander Solzhenitsen wrote The Gulag Archipelago to greatly reflect as many individual lives living in the Soviet Union during the worst of the reign. Michael Malice has helped me see the picture on a more global scale of all of the socialist and Communist States in a more generalized fashion. Easy for someone not very bright, like me, to follow on and get a decent grasp of the history.

An excellent summary of political socialism in the 20th century.

Michael Malice writes about this history in an interesting way that makes up for the poor performance/recording of the narration. The narration feels taped together rather than having a natural flow. I eventually got used to the style after about 30 minutes but it was something that should have been better.

Well Written, Poorly Narrated

Micheal is a great story teller of history. His knowledge of communism and ability to articulate how evil it is has given me a new perspective that I was never taught in school or in culture. Great listen

Malice is truly a student of history
