"A supersharp mystery...confoundingly clever, and very funny." (Booklist, starred review)

A bizarre chain of events begins when 16 unlikely people gather for the reading of Samuel W. Westing's will. And though no one knows why the eccentric, game-loving millionaire has chosen a virtual stranger - and a possible murderer - to inherit his vast fortune, one thing's for sure: Sam Westing may be dead...but that won't stop him from playing one last game!

Excellent, Engaging, Smart Whodunit

If you could sum up The Westing Game in three words, what would they be?

This flew. The story was well crafted and kept my attention. The details are everything, and the book truly deserves multiple listens. Who killed Sam Westing? Which one of his many heirs will solve the crime? And why did the eccentric millionaire turn his own death into a game? I am a fan of mystery novels, and this certainly fits the bill.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Westing Game?

The scene where the will is read starts things off nicely.

What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?

The narration had feeling.

The Westing Game

For younger children, this book is hard to follow without setting the characters and keeping track of them. Many years ago, I did this book with 7th graders, and it went well. This year, for an enrichment class, I read it with 5th graders. Several of them were not interested in it, and I believe it was because we were just listening and discussing the book as we read.

I thought this was a really good book!

I found the plot intriguing! Not your run-of-the-mill murder mystery. And I've read quite a few.

Enjoyable

Never knew of this book as a child, discovered as an adult through a co-worker's daughter being in battle of the books. I read and listened to the audiobook. It is an entertaining story and one I would have loved as a child. As an adult, I enjoyed it. I would actually like to see it done for adults and delve into some of the themes a little deeper. Any way, great listen.

Entertaining!

This audiobook entertained my 10 year-old while we were delayed at the airport and then on a on a long-haul flight. He couldn’t stop listening. It was great! The Westing Game is also one of my childhood favorites, so I was happy to purchase it for our family.

Not what I imagined, but not a disappointment.

This has been my favorite book since I was in 8th grade. I was on a road trip, so I decided to listen to it. Aside from the terrible issues one has when having read the book first of not pronouncing things the way you thought they were in your head, or people having accents that didnt in your mind, and then feeling self righteous about it; it was all very well, and I enjoyed it greatly.
