Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Fire chief and werewolf Titus Merrow has a pretty good life. Great family, great job, great friends. No love interest, sure, but he’s got too much going on to worry about that. Like the 10K race for charity that he’s helping to plan. Too bad the woman he’s planning it with is so hot. No, wait. He meant annoying.

Sheriff’s deputy and valkyrie Jenna Blythe has somehow gotten stuck working on a charity event with her boss’ brother. Not only is Titus Merrow full of himself, but he challenges every suggestion she makes about the race. Why are the handsome ones always so smug? She can’t wait to beat him in the competition and bring home the trophy for the sheriff’s department. Again.

But when they answer a call together and things explode, dangerous magic is unleashed. They’re suddenly forced to work together. Literally. And the magic only gets more treacherous as time ticks forward. Not even Jenna’s good friend seems to be able to help them as shady forces lurk in every shadow.

Swords and sorcery abound, and Jenna’s past comes back to haunt her. She and Titus are left with no choice but to question everything - and everyone. Who’s targeting them? Is what they’re feeling real? Can love survive against darkness? Can a valkyrie learn to run with the pack?

Every trip to Nocturne Falls is as entertaining as the initial trip which can be attributed to the delightful talent of Kristen Painter and B.J. Harrison. I cannot get enough of this magical duo!! Loved this book! I have read the whole series and have been waiting for Titus to get his chance at love. This book can be read a a standalone but more enjoyable if you read more nice that there are old friends included in this book as well as new characters very well written and so much fun.I loved to hear the story on audible made for some enjoyable hours. BJ Hsarrison always makes me smile when I listen. Looking forward to listening to more as they come out.

The Last Merrow gets his HEA

I really enjoyed Titus and Jenna's story! The Valkyrie and the werewolf are bound by a mysterious spell. What follows is a tale of chasing down the bad guy and ultimately falling in love. This series is so fun, I just love it.B.J. Harrison is a marvelous narrator.

Another great Nocturnal Falls book!

As usual, Kristen Painter has gifted us with another wonderful tale of our favorite townspeople in Nocturnal Falls. I've come to expect perfection. and I'm never let down. The way the characters are fleshed out makes them knowable (is that a word?). I love the characters and the narration is tops. B J. Harrison always delivers. it wouldn't be Nocturnal Falls without him. long story short, I laughed . I cried. I loved everything about this book. Thanks for writing it!

Mundane

This book has absolutely zero charm and the characters have even less chemistry.

I literally cannot take another book by this author. The earlier books were fluffy and fun - but managed to be well written. There is none of that to be had here.

Big fail IMO. 2-stars only because narrator is top notch as always.

Valkyrkies and Wolves, oh my!

Deputy Jenna Blythe is a valkyrie with limited patience when dealing with Fire Chief Titus Merrow. When a dangerous spell forces them to work together, they are surprised to find their feelings for each other changing. It’s always fun to visit Nocturne Falls and catch up with the delightful cast of characters. This is an excellent addition to the series.

From Rivalry to Romance

I binged this series over a year or so ago and burnt myself out a little listening back to back. But returning to this volume after taking time away was such a delight. These stories are easy listens while doing other things around the house. Like many stories of this genre each volume is easy to drop into and each book they are sure to give you an overview of the cast of characters. The entire focus is on relationships and action. There is great pacing, solid humor, and fun romance between the two pulled together in the most unlikely way. I love the characters of this town, though I'll be honest as an audience member who is now 12 books in I could not describe anything about location except the standard Halloween 365 line--and even that I don't have a clear picture of setting. These books place you with the people and not the location, so immerse yourself in emotion and dialogue and don't plan on having a sense of where it's all taking place, but most of the time the story and the magical aspects of these characters are so enchanting I forget that all of it is taking place well somewhere. This was wonderful to return to and a reminder of why Kristen is so popular in this genre. She's also squeaky clean so no cussing and no sex just the occasional fiery kiss (I am not offended by cussing or sex but mention for those that read reviews and are curious). Also guaranteed happy ending. I love how the townsfolk come together to help and are able to use their various powers and gifts to find solutions. In terms of narration I love Harrison and think he does a great job. I find split narration very distracting, also Harrison has done close to ALL of Kristen's books so literally his voice IS Nocturne Falls for me. This is the entire reason you can listen to a sample. There are multiple series I will not purchase on audible because the sample revealed to me I could not stand the voice of the person (often female voices). This will always come down to personal preferences. But if you aren't sure listen to the sample you will know pretty quickly whether it will work for you. Overall a joy to listen to and already downloaded book 13.

I loved this book, I've been wanting Titus & Jenna to get books for ages, so to have them paired up is perfect!! I hope Remy gets a book also, and Pandora's sisters!
