Publisher's Summary

A money book with a lot of soul. It affected me deeply.” (Tom Brown)

“One of the most important books I’ve ever read.” (Susan Sloate, best-selling author of Forward To Camelot and Stealing Fire)

“This book is a treasure. A wealth of valuable information entertainingly presented.” (Douglas Winthrop Cooper, retired physicist, author of Ting and I)

"This is one book I'm putting into my calendar to read again every year, if not more often.” (Grace Judson, author of The Five Deadly Shoulds of Office Politics)

Father and Son

The Wealthy Gardener is an audiobook with a lot of soul because it was written by a financially independent father for his 21-year old son.

The father and son met weekly to discuss many lessons on prosperity. A parable was used to clarify financial insights and maintain the son’s ongoing interest. This education between the father and son lasted two years. These two years culminated in this remarkable book.

It is a treasure that you’ll want to return to as a reference guide, review many times, and refer to your children, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Topics you’ll explore in the audiobook:

  • How the pursuit of wealth can be a noble adventure
  • Why earning excess money is wise and necessary
  • Why work that fulfills you is vital to amassing wealth
  • How to surmount obstacles that trap the masses in debt and wage slavery
  • How to engage free time to win your freedom
  • How to use financial fears as compelling motivators
  • How to tap your intuition to sense opportunities and trouble
  • How to transform your financial life within five years
  • How to cause lucky breaks through mental practices
  • How to amass enough money to never again have to worry about money

The Wealthy Gardener [excerpt from book]

They dubbed him "the wealthy gardener" due to his passion for backyard gardening. The silly nickname stuck, and he didn't object to it. Instead, within a year he renamed his vineyards The Wealthy Gardens. He enjoyed the name because it reminded him of a metaphor comparing life to a plot of land. Gardeners are not afraid of working hard to shape their landscape, but they are also aware of a mysterious Unseen Force that operates behind the scenes to make the plants grow.

“The author’s noble intention of writing this book for his son is now a blessing for all those seeking financial freedom.” (Joe Stanton)

This book has been life-changing for my husband and I. Until reading this simultaneously we were unable to have a healthy financial discussion. We have said and truly believe that reading this book this summer has change the trajectory of our relationship and our lives!

Life Changing Book!

I pray that I can one day say that I lived a life of intention that was purposeful and of service to others. As I listened it was impossible to not want more for myself. Not a materialistic version of more, but a version that makes me and those in my company better people.

One of the best books I’ve read/listened to in my life.

Modern day “Think and Grow Rich”

This is a great book. It is a modern day “Think and Grow Rich” with a splash of “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” The book gives very solid advice in a story that keeps one interested. I wish I read it as a teenager. I will definitely have my kids read it.

Stay with it

I had read a series of suspenseful nonfiction books before reading (listening via Audible) this one. I listen to books when I am at the gym and when I am driving to and from work. I admit that I got a little bored a third of the way through this and started listening to another book. Then I started listening to this book again only at the gym. Then I found myself looking forward to listening to this book when driving too. Some of the content in this book may seem a little sophomoric but keep going and I think you will find it rewarding.

Profound!

I feel sorrow that I had ever given a 5 star review to another book on financial prosperity. Juxtaposed to “The Wealthy Gardner” they are all inadequate.
I will keep this book and its lessons with me for a lifetime. As I hope my children will too. Thank you for extending your knowledge!

Full of Golden Nuggets

I’ll be ordering the hard copy of this book to have as a bedside reference guide that I’ll read repeatedly. I love the book that much! There were many quotable moments and words that resonated so deeply. Thank you for this gift of a book, I’ve already recommended it to a half dozen people.

The FIRE book you’ve been waiting for!

I don’t usually leave reviews but after listening to The Wealthy Gardener I felt compelled to.
Over the last year I’ve listened to a fair amount of personal finance books and this strikes the balance between fiction/nonfiction perfectly.
It weaves a lovely story with some brilliant quotes along the way.
In my opinion this is a modern day Think and grow rich.
Thank you John.

Fantastic book!

A structured book on how to accumulate wealth, using the analogy of a gardener. Who would have thought so many answers can be found by the simple act of doing!

Hidden Treasure

An inspiring book full of wisdom. On reading it I definitely feel that I have stumbled upon a hidden treasure as it isn’t a highly promoted book, but in my mind ranks highly among the must reads. The author uses the pursuit of wealth to explore the full spectrum of human experience, sharing practical financial advice in such a way that the reader is encouraged to probe deeper at some of the fundamental questions in life. There is a poignancy to the book a certain sadness that seems to add power to the messages within but more so to the journey of self reflection and growth that I imagine we will all take after reading it.
