Publisher's summary

Cooper Lee and her friends in the Hope Street Bible study group have just volunteered for a local charity, delivering much-needed food and cheer to shut-ins in their community. It seems like the perfect way for the group to do good, and to Cooper it offers the welcome opportunity to get out of the house and spend more time with her new boyfriend, Nathan. But when one of the charity's recipients is murdered, the police have no choice but to single out the church group and their fellow volunteers as the prime suspects.

Determined to make sure no evil deed goes unpunished, Cooper and her friends decide to discreetly interrogate each volunteer in their search for the killer, even if it means putting themselves at risk in the process. And as serving the needy becomes more treacherous than any of them could have imagined, they just might discover that the road to murder is paved with good intentions.

I love this series and the narrator!

The base of the stories I have listened to so far, are God centered. This doesn't bothrr me and for Those who might be turned off by the central theme would be missing a great cozy mystery series. The two I jave listened to so far are nicely crafted story. It doesn't make the Hope Street Bible study group sound perfect as none of us are. Just my two cents!

The series keeps getting better

Any additional comments?

This is the second in the Hope Street Church series. I have already read these books in Kindle version (written as Jennifer Stanley), and I really enjoyed them. This installment lets you get to know the main characters even better. They are people in a bible study group who are trying to do good, but are also human and have flaws. I could be friends with most of them. I'm so glad this series is being released in audio, and I have already pre-ordered the next in the series.

A great second installment!

If you've read Ellery Adams "books by the bay" mysteries then you will notice a lot of similarities. This is like a junior version of that series, in that you can tell Ellery improved her character development with her newer series. However, this is still really well written, honest, engrossing & has a well narrated ensemble that I enjoyed. Cooper is a real character who I found myself relating to. She makes no qualms about the fact that she isn't a detective, and I love the honesty of the whole story. It's believable which is why you can get transported while listening. The kindness of the friends in the church group warms my heart & with each book I am finding myself more invested. I hope audible makes the rest of the books in this series available soon, I will be first in line to buy it!

Murder Sitting Up . . . Straight Up

The second in the Hope Street Church series finds Cooper Lee and her Bible Study group volunteering to deliver meals each Saturday to senior citizens . . . and doing odd jobs in their homes, pairing up in teams, visiting them, feeding both their bellies and their souls . . . but the first day on the job, one of the clients is found dead, sitting in a chair . . . at first it is thought to be of natural causes, but when it happens a second time, foul play is more certain . . . and items are missing from the homes of the deceased . . . the only visitors have been the Door to Door Charity Volunteers . . . who could have done such an evil deed? when Cooper and her boyfriend, Nathan begin to suspect the murderer is one of the volunteers, they organize a get together so everyone can interview them on the sly . . . but none of them seem capable of killing the senior citizens . . . nor of robbing them of their treasures . . . I thoroughly enjoyed this second installment in the series and getting to know Cooper's family as well as those in her Bible Study even better . . . I had no clue on who the killer was . . . great story and great resolution . . . I am already on to Book Three!
