Story
As we open up to life and love and each other, as we awaken from our dream of separation, we encounter not just the bliss of existence, but its pain, too; not only life's ecstasy, but also its agony. Healing doesn't always feel good or comfortable or even "spiritual", for we are inevitably forced to confront our shadows, fears, and deepest longings - those secret parts of ourselves that we have denied, repressed, or deemed "negative" and unworthy of our love.

Publisher's summary
Love is a crazy thing. Heartbreak is even crazier. But to top it off with depression - that's a recipe for disaster.
We all go through a whirlwind in one way or another, and you better believe it - it's no fun. The poetry of Katrina R. Lippolis tackles the ups and down of a love that eventually goes sour.
Take a trip into her mind as she explores the roller coaster that is The Way We Fall: Love Amid the Thistles.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'
