Vampire Wars in New York

Angelica Markus has weaved a tale of Skye Davenport and her brother Christian with unique abilities getting pulled into a vampire war. While Skye is the main POV character throughout, she has a large cast and a vision for vampires that is unique, entertaining, and feeds the plot well. I am normally a visual learner and thus prefer to read books like this. I found it difficult to keep up with all the different vampires and guardians but by the end had a good grasp of those that counted.
I love Angelica’s description and detail. She gave a lot of attention to food, clothing, and setting, adding to the depth of the story. I did feel at times that Skye and Christian lost their ability to control their own destiny around the more powerful vampires trying to protect them, but Angelica forced them in the climactic scene to fight for their very lives.
The narrator did a good job with the many accents required for this story and surprised me at times with her renditions. While her French accent for Zachary, didn’t sound French to me at first (I thought he was Romanian maybe) once I realized he was French, it amazingly sounded more French. This was an extremely difficult story to narrate with all the accents, but I thought Kasey did a great job.
Overall a great story, worth the listen. I may actually read it too and see how that impacts my retention and the distinction of the different characters.

Decent

I liked the story, a little to fluffy (use of descriptions and such)
characters were well developed, and the fantasy aspect of the vampires was well woven into out world. The storyline was alright, there were unique aspects of the world that got it enough of the trope of vampires to keep me intrigued

As for the narration, i think the narrator did a pretty good job with the mast number of characters in it, and with the accents. But, the editing was not good. there are uncountable number of points where the narration jumoed quickly without pause to the next line, or someone speaking. it really made it hard to focus and at times I almost stopped listening all together because of it. that is the main reason why the performance score is so low.

I recieved this audiobook as a free copy, but the opinions written are of my own free will.

Interesting and Fun

So this novel is not like my usual, I tend to not read anything designed in modern times even if there is a fantasy element. But it was gifted to me in exchange for my thoughts and after reading the preview I accepted the offer and read the book. I like it for the most part. The story was interesting, unique vampires that were concerned with human life and this pair of twins that had gifts of their own all plausible so it held my attention. The narrator did good with accents and her attempts to distinguish between different speakers in a conversation but little things like not ending the sentence with the correct lilt or even ending it at all and all the men sounding exactly the same cause a bit of distraction in the flow and that is why the score was less than perfect for Kasey Logan. Otherwise I hope that there is a book 2 cause this left me with a cliff hanger so I need to know.

A must listen! Super engaging story!

Just finished the audible and man oh man was it awesome! I loved that it was more of a dark, traditional take on Vampires and their lore but also having a modern twists that just makes perfect sense. I found the story to be very interesting and certainly can’t wait for the rest of the series! I highly recommend for fans of the supernatural. For the sake of the audible I have to commend Kasey Logan and her great use of accents, dialects, and the many characters going on at once! She was excellent
