Really Good Psychological Suspense

Although this book is somewhat predictable, the writing and character development were done so well it was easy to stay hooked into the story. Lilly’s character was so complex. Definitely recommend this one!

Narration was outstanding!

Great story with a Great finish!!!

There are some slow parts, but it's all done to build the realism of the situation. I broke from the story longer than I had others and was worried about being disappointed; I encourage anyone reading this book to get on with it because the last quarter of the book brings it all together nicely, without giving it away, the author is enveloping you in the necessary mindset to truly appreciate what is happening to the main character and it then becomes so so clear.

Every now and then, it’s just not the right time…

(After so many starts, I tried this one again. The narrative skills of Catherine Steadman shine through; it’s the confusing story. I may try another listen.)

Though I've tried this three times or more, I may give this another chance after listening to Catherine Steadman’s “The Family Game,” a wickedly delicious thriller.

No spoilers

The narration was fantastic and I’m glad I listened rather than read, because the story really came to life. I guessed the twists fairly early on, and I won’t spoil anything for you—I will say that my imagination of what might happen next was a bit more twisted than the actual story. All in all a good first novel and worth the time.

Very Good Suspense Novel

The suspense builds until it's conclusion. Solid story that comes together. Not too long or yoo short in length. Enjoyable.

Struggled

Struggled to finish the book. Drawn out too much. Could have peaked readers curiosity a lot earlier in the book.

I liked the story and it would have been good, except It was hard to listen to with the audio going up and down in volume.

Lovely Narration and twists and turns

I found The Woman In Apartment 49 a perfect setting for all of us that are home sheltered right now! Most of the action and story happens in her apartment with a pair of binoculars. It's all written in the first person and you really don't know who all the characters are until certain points in the story. Well written and Catherine Steadman and her sometimes laconic and then emotional British voice is brilliant!

Worth getting through the slow part.

The story was worth flagging through the slow part at the beginning. Despite this it kept me interested. I'll look for another book written by him. But no one can beat Catherine Stedman narration. It makes every story she narrates come alive.
