Publisher's summary

The story of the 2164-2165 war with the Squidies from the first engagement to the final detonations.

Hardway - Intelligent life reaches out to humanity using particle beam weapons and masers. The pilots and crew of the privateer carrier Hardway are first to fight in the conflict that quickly escalates from a bloody first contact to a full-scale, interstellar war.

Kamikaze - The carrier Hardway invades Procyon to destroy an alien blockade gun meant to keep the human race confined. Hardway and her pilots meet their match in the Squidies' massive gun and the alien aces that protect it until they discover why the aliens are beating them.

Lancer - Privateer Admiral Harry Cozen needs pilots for an experimental fighter squadron, so he offers the inmates of Bailey Prison a deal. Colt is serving 5-7 and he knows the deal is too good to be true, but he still takes it. He and the rest of the C-Block nuggets learn to fly the new F-151 and prepare to sortie against alien aces on a mission he knows is far more dangerous than anyone's telling them.

Taipan - Hardway is drafted into a force group commanded by Harry Cozen's bitter rival from Staas Company. She stole his fighter program and his thousand new pilots. Now, she's determined to use them as cannon fodder. Nobody can argue with her battle record, but the officers and crew of Hardway and the Lancers of the 133rd Fighter Test Squadron may be all that can keep her pilots alive in a knife fight deep behind enemy lines.

Cozen's War - The Privateers and the UN fleet have brought the fight to the Squidies' home system. The Earth invasion fleet faces off against every ship the Squidies can muster. Harry Cozen is in command and this is his greatest gambit, but alien propaganda threatens to reveal the war's most damaging secret on the day the bloodiest battle of the conflict unfolds.

Fun to listen to

This listen went by quickly. As someone who makes his living as a mediator and peacemaker, I was intrigued by the choice: peace and enslavement or war and freedom. The conflict between these choices drives the plot and the development of the characters. Clearly peace at any price is not desirable. Yet who should make the call to start a war preemptively? And under what circumstances? The moral questions are weaved throughout the book. Even at the climactic end, we wonder whether the end justifies the means.I hope to see more of this author's work, especially as there is room for further development of this story line.

WAR OF ALIEN AGGRESSION, by D.A. Bloom

This is a Sci-Fi Space Trilogy, fluid in that the storyline is true unto itself and the characters meld together flawlessly. A war, countless death, and victory after victory... all based on a lie a small band of employees of a spacemining corporation are sold as the truth. After all, a well respected officer of a mega-corporation wouldn't lie to us about a thing like that... would he? If all that you've read here so far is the truth... what should we do about it? And do we have the guts to see it through to the end?

This and more await you, but only if you have the courage to see it through, and do the right thing... but therein lie other twists and turns in the story. What is the right thing? Do we agree? How far will you walk this path of truths and deception with friends, acquaintances, perhaps even a lover? And can anyone keep a secret... blast it! "What is the truth?"

So many questions. I do encourage all of you to read or listen to discover it for yourself. "HAPPY READING!"

An amazing audible rendition of an amazing book!

What did you love best about The War of Alien Aggression - Box Set One?

The narrator's ability to give each character a different voice.

What did you like best about this story?

The fact that history will forever repeat itself (unfortunately). Bloom does an amazing job at presenting humanity's weaknesses and strengths.

Which character – as performed by David Rheinstrom – was your favorite?

Cozen.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It seemed to hit harder than when I read the print version. I found my mouth dropping open a couple of times.

Any additional comments?

David Rheinstrom is an incredible narrator and really brought this story to life. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to a book read by him.

Nothing.

Shallow plot if any. Shallow characters. Listened to the series just to put me to sleep. A first rate bore. Save yourself a credit!
