Publisher's summary

I want vengeance so badly that I can almost taste it. It's all I've ever wanted. So, I did what anyone in my unique position would do. I slapped on a secret identity and became an internationally renowned thief, known as The Fox. Nobody knows me. Nobody can catch me.

Or so I thought.... It turns out: I have what they want. Special abilities. And trust me, these abilities are coveted - and dangerous. Now, I don't know who to trust or where to go. Peril lurks on every corner as I try to uncover my past and origin. Teaming up with unlikely allies may be my only chance at survival or my biggest mistake. Only time will tell. I'm Kit Davenport and this is only the beginning.

Warning: This book is a reverse harem. It also contains violence, sex, bad language, and content which some readers may find triggering.

"One of my favourite reads this year!" (Jaymin Eve, USA Today best-selling author)

Not what I expected in a good way

I sat on this series for years first because I was afraid it would be more teen YA and second because I wanted to make sure the series was complete before I started in. Pleasantly this first book isn’t YA at all. There are already steamy scenes and the sexual tension is rising with the others. My favorite thing about this book so far is how well developed each character is. Each guy on the team is unique. I also like the mystery of who Kit is. They seem like they are at the beginning of one really interesting adventure.

A little underwhelming

This book followed the standard outline for an initial book in a reverse harem series, including 5 guys: the stuffy leader, the oversized macho man, the flirt, the nerd, and the one who pretends he isnt interested. It's also action packed with hints of supernatural that aren't thoroughly addressed until the very end. Unfortunately the portions of the story that were supposed to be the climax were .. well .. a little anticlimactic. I would have liked to see them better worked out.

The relationships were a little forced and rushed, the action scenes fell a bit flat, and the end didn't really leave me wanting to continue on. I have heard really great things about this series so I'll be continuing, I hope it works itself out in the upcoming book.

Side note: the female narrator was good but overacted a little bit. Overall I enjoyed her performance. The male narrator wasn't my favorite, not differentiating between characters very well which is interesting since the author built in accents that should have helped him out.

4.5 Good introduction but slightly slow

I liked this book. There were times when it felt a little slow and like nothing was going on or advancing but for the most part it kept me entertained. I like the guys a lot so far and Kit seems like a pretty decent FMC. She is written to act pretty strong but there are several times she has to be saved or makes poor decisions, so I hope she grows up a bit and doesn't keep making decisions that make her seem like a twit. Wes is the cutest thing; I can't wait till Kit starts showing him more attention because he clearly has the biggest crush on her and he's so cutely awkward and shy. Austin is kind of a dou**e but I think he may be slowly coming around, even if against his will. This book didn't really keep me on edge or anything but a few things happened that concerned you with how they'd turn out; granted the issues were usually solved pretty quickly in this one. It was different having most the guys being into the FMC immediately and actually being decent humans. I'm so used to a**hole MMC's that fight their feelings for 2 books before they start treating the girl decent, so this was kind of a nice change actually. They must feel some sort of pull towards her cuz it was kind of insta like. I'm heading into the next one right away and hoping for more action and steam.

The narrators did really good I thought. I thought they added to the writing.

great story

It was a really good book but some of the Male voices sounded a little off almost like they a computer voice which does take away from the book.

amazing

The Vixen's Lead was a absolutely "suck you in" type of series opener. Right away we're heading into action, joining Kit on one of her jobs as the infamous "Fox." Along with Lucifer, her best friend and tech maven, Kit has pulled off a string of expensive heists over recent years. The two of them are a major force to be reckoned with: totally fierce, feisty, and completely supportive and protective of each other. I love their best friend vibes, and there's a believable and fun chemistry between the two of them.Kit aka the Fox and the special ops team who discovers her identity. Then we've also got this complex arc beginning that is tied into the mystery of Kit's origins- who is she? WHAT is she? how is she linked to the mysterious genetic experiments that they're starting to find evidence of?
Both story lines will hook you in. With the special ops team we get a thrilling blend of fast/slow/medium burn; there's something to keep every type of reader satisfied. Kit's chemistry is different with each man, so prepare to be pleased, teased, and even frustrated all at the same time.
Outside of their chemistry with Kit, each of the men is, of course, delicious
River, the alpha male and team leader who is used to getting his orders followed both in the field and in the bedroom.
Cole, the fighter with a hard*ss exterior with so much care and protectiveness underneath.
Wesley, the shy tech guru who doesn't seem to realize how much of a catch he truly is.
Caleb & Austin- two brothers who couldn't be more opposite sides of the coin. Caleb: flirty, charismatic, and warm-hearted. Austin: gruff, a frequent user of sarcastic, sharp wit, and slow to forgive.
Altogether, it's basically impossible to resist them. Not to mention, I'm ready to drool over just the description of their tattoos. Droolworthiness aside, I love that James has crafted characters with a brotherly bond (in the twins case, biologically), but with layers of depth. Even in just this first book, there seems to always be something new to discover, some alluring piece of their personality or past that makes you love them even more.
i highly reccomend everyone to give this audiobook a listen to. Tate James goes beyond and above crating amazing plot and does an outstanding job building the characters. the narrated did such a wonderful job telling the story and bringing kit and her men to life. i was on the edge of my seat through out this whole audiobook wondering what was gonna happen next

sloppy but enjoyable

It's a bit unrealistic at parts, like how Kit is an international thief when she's in high school and makes mistakes on the regular. However, it's still entertaining and I love how it isn't an instant love series. 5 stars for me with lowered expectations (because lets be real, you have to have low expectations in this genre).

Great Beginning

to a series! Kit and her best friend Lucy are not your typical high school students, in more ways than one. Get lost in their world, you won't regret it!

love two narrators sharing chapters

I LOVE that they have the male narrator reading the male parts alongside the female narrator reading the female parts. this is SO much better that having the girl read the male parts during "her" chapter and the guy reading the girl parts during "his" chapter. I'm sure this is more difficult for the narrators and probably more expensive to produce, but it is SOOO WORTH IT!!!! If we could tell this was done before buying, I'd never listen to anything else.
BTW, the book is fantastic, too. This series has become one of my top 3 favorites.

What The Vixen!

Such an awesome book! Kit is a badass FMC with a crappy past. Kit and her best friend Lucy go to a really fancy academy high school. This is their senior year. They aren't you average teen girls. Kit has become one of the most famous robbers and Lucy is her tech behind the scenes. Kit and Lucy finally get caught by the omega force, which are the only good guys that were trying to catch the Fox. Now Kit has found herself surrounded by five hot guys that work for omega. Kit has been searching for information about where she comes from. She finds out that she might not be human. Wonder where Kit and the guys will end up next?
