Publisher's summary

Love begets madness. Viscount Locksley watched it happen to his father after his cherished wife's death. But when his sire arranges to marry flame-haired fortune hunter Portia Gadstone, Locke is compelled to take drastic measures to stop the stunning beauty from taking advantage of the marquess. A marriage of mutual pleasure could be convenient, indeed, as long as inconvenient feelings don't interfere.

Desperation forced Portia to agree to marry a madman. The arrangement will offer the protection she needs. Or so she believes until the marquess' distractingly handsome son peruses the fine print...and takes his father's place!

Now the sedate - and, more importantly, secure - union Portia planned has been tossed in favor of one simmering with wicked temptation and potential heartbreak. Because as she begins to fall for her devilishly seductive husband, her dark secrets surface and threaten to ruin them both - unless Locke is willing to risk all and open his heart to love.

A nice addition to the series…

But, there were times that the plot and characters were unrealistic, annoying, and had hints of narcissism throughout,
Yet, it was a decent book added to this series.

Because This Is A Series

I like listening to serial novels. This is a series of 3 all about the life and loves of 4 boys/men who grew up as brothers but only 2 were blood related because they are twins. The Publisher's Summary gives a good description/synopsis of each story. I will only say that eac story held my interest from start to finish. However, I do wish the female narrator had the ability to make the female voices sound better, the male voices are okay because the narrator's voice is kinda deep to begin with. Nevertheless the storylines held my interest.

Always satisfying!

I liked the story so full of wisdom and love. Couldn’t put it down.
A listen for anyone who loves historical
romances though the love making is explicit.
Helen Lloyds voice is perfect and I can always distinguish between the female and male voices. A real talent for the different English dialects too.

Great romance

I loved both the hero and heroine. They were both very human with their faults and many wonderful qualifies.. They gave us all the hope for a happier future .The father was very enjoy able.

Lovely story

Out of the three books in the series, this was my favorite. I know it is said that the books can be read independently...I believe that it’s necessary to read the first two. There is so much “story” in the first two that leads up to this last book. You won’t be sorry.

OK

The reviews had me thinking it was really good but it was kind of let down. I loved the father and hearing about his love story with his wife who had passed. The story started off good but at times the Viscount was just too mean and cold for my taste and I felt like the only thing they had going was sex and then Portia was withholding so much. The middle kind of dragged and I lost interest and started to jump ahead so maybe they fell in love during that part but it got good again about 5-6 chapters at the end but by that point the Viscount did a 360 and was now falling over himself so in love and it felt unbelievable like he was a different person. It just felt like all the revelations from Portia were also wrapped up too neatly in a bow that Locke was just that forgiving and accepting that quickly. The narrator is once again not good except for doing the father's voice, every other voice just sounds harsh and the female sounds manly.
