Publisher's Summary
When Evie Nicholson is asked to visit Kettlesheer Castle in Scotland to archive the family heirlooms, she jumps at the chance. Evie's passion for antiques means that, for her, the castle is a treasure trove of mysteries just waiting to be uncovered.
But in each heirloom lies a story, and in the course of her investigations Evie stumbles upon some long-buried family secrets. Add handsome, gloomy heir Robert McAndrew and a traditional candlelit gala to the mix, and Evie's heart is sent reeling with an enthusiasm that may just extend beyond the Kettlesheer silver....

A very light romance
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I don't think I would have continued to the end if I had been reading, but ok for car journey listening although at one point I just wanted to get to the end.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
More depth, more passion, more drama - most of the time I just wanted to tell her to stop being so annoyingly pathetic.
What aspect of Cathleen McCarron’s performance might you have changed?
Some of the voices were better than others.
Could you see The Vintage Girl being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
No
Any additional comments?
Main character little too much "Woe is me" - I'm too tall, too gangly, too uncoordinated, too romantic - just too much angst for me.

predictable but fun
I began by thinking that I had made a terrible mistake. I wanted something light for a change but thought that it was too light. Then I really got into it and ended up carrying my tablet everywhere with me. it is light but enjoyable, I like thrillers but sometimes evil and bodies need a rest.

Average chick lit
I wouldn't choose to read another by the same author based on this book. It wasn't bad but predictable and narrated in a rather breathy style that I found slightly annoying.

A bit of fun
A fun, well written story with a relatable protagonist. McCarron’s accent slips a few times but not enough to be terribly confusing. Ending is a little abrupt, could have benefited from an epilogue.

Vintage girl a big disapointment.
Started off well and was interesting, then it got so complicated. The narrator is not good inflections are in the wrong places making sentences difficult to understand. The book breaks off at the end in mid sentence during a reel, so I do not even know how it ends. Normally end of books have "we hope you have enjoyed..." I like books that give a bit of history on the subject but this one gives nothing about antiques, no little stories about things. Disappointing, sorry to be negative. Just tried to re listen and it is even worse than the first time. What a pity.
