Taking Seriously the Holiness of God
    Acts 5:1-11
    Teacher: Pastor Tommy Bailey
    Date: April 12, 2026

The story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11 is one of the most perplexing and unsettling passages in the New Testament. Set against the backdrop of explosive growth and radical generosity in the early church, this tragic account exposes the dangers of giving the appearance of godliness over actual godliness.

Join Pastor Tommy as we explore what it means to live honestly before a holy God whose grace is more generous than we can imagine. Whether you've drifted into the exhausting patterns of spiritual pretending or lost your sense of awe before God, this passage is an invitation to step into the freedom that Christ offers to all who call on His name.

  • Christus Victor | John 20 | Easter 2026 at The Village Chapel
    Apr 7 2026

    Christus Victor
    John 20
    Teacher: Pastor Jim Thomas
    Date: April 5, 2026

Why have Christians across the world celebrated the Resurrection for 2,000 years? Is it a testable historical event — or just a comforting metaphor for "new beginnings" and "the triumph of the human spirit"?

    The answer changes everything.

Join Pastor Jim this Sunday as we explore the theme Christus Victor — Christ the Victor. We'll look at what the Bible actually claims happened that first Easter morning, why the evidence for it is stronger than most people realize, and why the bodily resurrection of Jesus is the hinge on which all of Christian hope swings. Because if it really happened — and we believe it did — then death has been defeated, sins are truly forgiven, and God's new creation has already begun.

  • Jesus: Prophet, Priest & King | Palm Sunday at The Village Chapel
    Mar 30 2026

    Jesus: Prophet, Priest & King
    Matthew 21:1-17
    Teacher: Pastor Jim Thomas
    Date: March 29, 2026

Why do Christians observe Palm Sunday? What was the significance of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey and all those people waving palms and covering the road with their coats? Why is that first Palm Sunday often called the “Triumphal Entry”?

It’s true that multitudes celebrated the approach of Jesus. But many of those misunderstood Jesus — just as many still do in our own day and time. Some were clearly expecting a political liberator and they would soon be disappointed. Jesus doesn’t fit neatly into any political system. Most of the religious leaders on the ground got angry and conspired against Jesus. And yet, throughout history, millions have come to believe that Jesus knew exactly what He was doing that day and in the events of the week that followed. So, what are we to make of this person, Jesus of Nazareth?

Join Pastor Jim as he takes us back to that first Palm Sunday to explore what actually happened, what it meant then, and what it still means for us today.

  • Acts 4:23-37 Sermon: A Vignette of a Gospel-Saturated Fellowship | March 22, 2026

    A Vignette of a Gospel-Saturated Fellowship
    Acts 4:23-37
    Teacher: Pastor Scotty Smith
    Date: March 22, 2026

Human history is filled with stories of people responding to pressure, but the early church offers a unique and powerful blueprint for gospel renewal. Rather than retreating or praying for safety in a world that felt vulnerable and in crisis, these believers leaned into the "unshakable kingdom" of God. They didn't ask for the threats to disappear; they asked for the boldness to make much of Jesus. How we respond to God’s sovereignty and grace, especially in times of transition and trial, remains the most defining thing about Christians to a watching world.

Join guest teacher Scotty Smith this Sunday, March 22, as we continue our study of Acts 4:23-37 and consider how God’s greatness compels our worship, how His Word shapes our worldview, and how His radical grace transforms our lives.

  • Acts 3 Sermon: More Than He Asked For: The Miracle and Message of Acts 3 | March 8, 2026

More Than He Asked For: The Miracle and Message of Acts 3
    Acts 3
    Teacher: Pastor Jim Thomas
    Date: March 8, 2026

What might change in our lives if we truly believed that Jesus is able to do far more than we ever ask or imagine? I’m not just talking about God as a Divine Sugar Daddy but what if God is actually so gracious and so generous that even the struggles and limitations in our lives have the potential to become the very places where the glory of Christ can be most luminously revealed?

For over 40 years a paralyzed man sat daily at one of the Jewish Temple gates begging for whatever small coins he could get from the passersby. He didn’t know it but all that time God had something great in mind for him. In Acts chapter 3 we read of the stunning miracle that opens the door to a powerful display of who Jesus truly is: the Deliverer and Servant King, the Holy and Righteous One, the Author of Life, and the Savior God has sent for us.

Join Pastor Jim as he walks us through this passage and reminds us that while we often come to God only asking for vague generalities and less important gifts, He is often eager to give us something far greater—new life, living hope, and often, a grand display of His glory and generosity. Come and see how this miracle points beyond itself to the grace, mercy, compassion, generosity and saving power of Jesus—and why the Lord continues to give more than we even ask for.

  • Acts 2:42-47 Sermon: Vital Signs of a Spirit-Filled Church | March 1, 2026
    Mar 2 2026

Vital Signs of a Spirit-Filled Church
    Acts 2:42-47
    Teacher: Pastor Tommy Bailey
    Date: March 1, 2026

In Acts 2:42-47, Luke pauses the whirlwind narrative of the early church to pull back the curtain on the ordinary, day-to-day life of a community transformed by the Spirit of God. What he reveals are the vital signs of a church that had come alive. A people hungry for God's Word, bound together in deep fellowship, radiating with worship of God, and devoted to prayer. Right in the middle of a culture known for its moral decay and lust for power, this peculiar band of believers lived in a way that was both strange and compelling to the watching world.

Join Pastor Tommy as we explore what it looks like when the Holy Spirit shapes a community from the inside out. Their devotion was the natural overflow of hearts that had been cut to the core by the gospel of Jesus. The same Spirit who set that young church ablaze is still doing His transforming work today.

  • Acts 2:14-41 Sermon: Filled with the Spirit, Pointing to Jesus | February 22, 2026
    Feb 23 2026

Filled with the Spirit, Pointing to Jesus
    Acts 2:14-41
    Teacher: Pastor Matt Pierson
    Date: February 22, 2026

In Acts 2, we witness the powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit as Jesus fills His followers gathered in Jerusalem. Then Peter—once the fearful disciple who denied Jesus—stands up, filled with the Spirit, and boldly proclaims the gospel.
What transformed Peter from frightened fisherman to fearless apostle? The same Holy Spirit who breathed new life into him now lives in us. As Charles Spurgeon said, without the Spirit, “we are as ships without wind, or like coals without fire.”
Join Pastor Matt this Sunday as we explore what it means to be filled with the Spirit and to live lives that point to Jesus.
